Barkley has 1,499 yards rushing with 5 games to go. So 2,000 sounds quite possible. He even has a shot at the all-time record. And the schedule is generally favorable, in terms of run defenses, other than a tough game against the Steelers.

If he goes off against the Panthers, the worst run d, tomorrow, I think he has a real shot!

Personally I hope he goes off for 200+ yards each of the next 4 weeks... he is on my fantasy team :suds:

He can rest the last week of NFL regular season if needed.

It would be a cool storyline for the league but I have to wonder if focussing on that and going all out to get him the record could have a negative effect going into the playoffs. I wouldn't fault the team or him for going that route but from a team standpoint, riding him and maybe getting him banged up could cost them down the road. Not trying to be all doom and gloom here or say anything bad but it would be a shame and be second guessed big time if he isn't fully healthy for the playoff run. Saquon is a lot of fun to watch and I always hated the way the Giants just wasted his talent. Totally different organization, obviously but big picture seems more important to me.

Yeah, another possibility is that Philly begins resting him more, especially if it looks like Detroit has the #1 seed locked up and they are the clear #2. They have pulled him out of a few games already where he was really cooking. The guy must still be pinching himself, wondering if this is real after his nightmare in New York.

Well, Philly is still trying to secure HFA and steal it from Detroit and Barkley gives them the best chance to do that... that said, I get what you're saying... but no reason to save them for the playoffs if it means not getting HFA or at least the second seed.

Now that said, when Henry was still running the ball when the Ravens were up a ton to try and get another 200 yard game... Harbaugh needs to be smarter. That was ridiculously stupid.

Update: Barkley had 124 yards against the Panthers, bringing him to 1,623 for the year.

Not bad at all, and still on pace, but probably needed a higher number against a bad team like this to really break the record IMO. He did now surpass Lesean McCoy for the all-time Philly mark with 4 games still to go.

I am predicting 2,000, but not the all-time record of 2,105 set by Eric Dickerson.

I know, it's still pretty much on track. But I had hoped he'd get more against Carolina, anticipating that it is going to be tougher sledding against Pittsburgh.

It'd be brilliant if they both get 2,000.
