I do wonder, with Bailey being replaced by Bart, how will that affect the performance of the pitching staff?
Anything is possible with this FO, but I just don’t see it. He isn’t an upgrade to anyone.I wonder what are the chances Grichuk is a Giant by next week.

Yet in the past two months the main acquisitions to prop up this flagging offense has been AJ Pollock and Paul DeJong. Grichuk fits the profile perfectly. It may well not happen but I would not be surprised if it does happen.Anything is possible with this FO, but I just don’t see it. He isn’t an upgrade to anyone.
Any major league hitter with a pulse fits the bill.Yet in the past two months the main acquisitions to prop up this flagging offense has been AJ Pollock and Paul DeJong. Grichuk fits the profile perfectly. It may well not happen but I would not be surprised if it does happen.

You mean like this?Giants haven’t announced any moves yet. at some point this weekend I’m sure Ross Stripling will be activated. Winn optioned? Wood DFA’d? Also feels like they might try to find something to spark the dead offense. But that’s just a hunch.
By the way, I hope this doesn't happen. He already is hitting like he is a Giant.I wonder what are the chances Grichuk is a Giant by next week.

So, with just 5 days left in the season (the RiverCats ain't going to playoffs), the Giants suddenly decide to release him? This after keeping him through the injury and rehab process and only a month of playing time. I mean, I guess that it is nice of them to let him rehab with the org. Just seems tacky to release a guy so close to the season ending.Giants just released Luis Gonzalez
I guess he's LouGONE.
Or dfa Paul DeJong? Just a thought.Michael Conforto will need to be added to the roster in the next few days, ideally before tomorrow's game against RHP Chase Anderson. Not sure how to get him on the roster. No outfielder is displaceable right now. Maybe go heavy on the outfielders and option Casey Schmitt?
As if....I'd keep him on the IL, DFA DeSuck and IL Wilmer. Bring up Lucy and Heliot.Or dfa Paul DeJong? Just a thought.
Here is something I don't know - is DeJong's glove that much better than Schmitt's? I hear good things about both of them defensively. Both, offensively, Schmitt is the better bat right now (.184/.209/.368 in 43 PAs since DeJong was acquired) than DeJong (.196/.191/.304 in 47 PAs with Giants). This was the move we expected. I'd have preferred to DFA DeJong, but here we are.
The Giants could have gone with DeJong here, but they have not gotten any offensive production at shortstop. DeJong does not do much to help that situation, but he is still a quality glove (0 DRS, +9 OAA) at a premium position, so that's likey why they went with Schmitt.
Two things probably going on: they are kind of a wash right now as both are good defenders who are not hitting. Casey will play every day in Sac; DJ probably is fine with the occasional start. Here is something I don't know - is DeJong's glove that much better than Schmitt's?
