Nothing announced yet, but Ramos is with the team and is going with the team to Denver.

I could see La Stella to the IL or Szapucki optioned. “Out there” move would be Yaz optioned, but that would be surprising.

This should tell you what you need to know about either Mercedes or Proctor as catchers. They signed Andrew Knapp over a month ago and he's torn the cover off the ball in AAA, sharing the catching duties with Jhonny Pereda while the other two play mainly at other positions.

Still, not sure why Mazeika. Churn, I guess.

As for Walton, he's been on the IL for Sacramento for about 3 weeks. However, he recently showed up on the ACL Orange roster as on a rehab assignment. I guess something happened on the rehab assignment.

Aug. 21: RHP Jakob Junis exits after taking 108-mph comebacker off left hand
Junis allowed three runs over 6 2/3 innings in Sunday’s 9-8 win over the Rockies, but he was forced to depart after being struck on his glove hand by Sam Hilliard’s 108-mph comebacker in the seventh. Junis appeared to be in serious pain, though manager Gabe Kapler said initial scans came back negative. Junis is expected to undergo a CT scan on Monday in Arizona, though he believes he managed to escape the worst for now. “It definitely hurts, but the good news is the X-rays are negative,” Junis said. “First and foremost, I’m happy about that. Nothing is broken, so hopefully I’ll get some rest this week and be good to go next Sunday.”

I would guess one of Johnson, Mercedes, Proctor, Szapucki, Velasquez or Marte get the boot. My money is on Velasquez because Szapucki's pitch tipping is too valuable.

Man, do I hate the churn.

I will hold off adding him until the corresponding move is announced.

The Giants announced that they claimed left-handed starter Jonathan Bermudez from the Astros and optioned him to AAA. Gregory Santos (groin strain) goes on 60-day IL to clear a roster spot.

Bermudez was getting hit around horribly this year with the Astros' AAA affiliate. He'll fit right in with Sacramento.

The Giants placed Brandon Belt on the IL with right knee inflammation. It has bothered him the whole year. Bryce Johnson is recalled from Triple-A.

But why not? We get a look see at Alexander for a possible bully spot next year. At essentially no cost
There is this pitcher, named Joey Marciano, who has done well over the course of an entire AAA season with Sacramento (even if he's gotten knocked around the past couple of weeks). In case you haven't seen, that is nearly impossible. Alexander has spent, what, a week with Sacramento?

Now I will say Alexander's big league numbers (which I neglected to look at until today) are good. And Szapucki finally got sent down. So there is that. I'm just trying to understand why Marciano isn't getting a shot.

Devils advocate…

His WHIP is 1.5 in AAA and he walks over 5 per 9. Also, as you mentioned, he has not looked good recently.

since June 25…

19 G, 16.2 IP, 7.02 ERA, 2+ WHIP, 20 K (good!), 13 BB.

His good season numbers are primarily based on a hot start. He has been pretty much hot garbage for approx 2 months now.

He just walks too many people.

That simple.
