I am very OK with that. VR is likely going to be a part of this team next year, even if only as a bench piece. Let’s see as much of him as possible.
Maybe put him in at the DH spot for a while. Hard to be worse than what the Giants are currently getting there.

I would like to see him in the field as much as possible.

The story at MLBTR mentioned that issue and confirmed that he had, in fact, already cleared waivers. He was DFA’d without anyone knowing.
I thought that was Vasquez. However, looking at the RiverCats' roster, both pitchers are listed on it and are updated to show not on the 40 man roster.
I would think that teams couldn't "sneak" players through waivers like that but maybe MLB is just lazy in reporting minor transactions on time.

I suspect they do t. As we have said in the past, the “media” is not great at reporting these roster moves accurately. I suspect there is some kind of system that only the teams can access that shows players who are currently in the DFA process. Or maybe team a just sends an email to the league email thread stating “Joe Schmoe, player #1234 is DFA’d”

Brandon Belt will have knee surgery tomorrow, ending his season. He told reporters he would like to continue playing but it’ll depend on how his knee feels. When he had the same procedure in 2015, his knee responded well.

Wood to the IL
Johnson called up
Interesting. When we started the season with Webb/Rodon/Disco/Wood/Cobb I anticipated IL stints for everyone but Webb.

Rodon has stayed healthy as has Cobb. And we "discovered" Junis.

I'd say we did well.

Starting rotation definitely has not been the weak spot of this team, compared to offense, defense and the bullpen.

INF-OF Jose Rojas claimed off waivers from Angels and optioned to Sacramento, and Brandon Belt goes to 60-day injured list as he recovers from knee surgery.

Austin Slater goes on the IL with a left hand sprain. Yunior Marte is back in the bullpen. Giants will have a bullpen game tomorrow with Alex Wood out.

I was expecting the Knapp dfa. I wonder if he'll walk or stick around. He's bounced around quite a bit this year.
He will prob stick around. If he walks, he loses his pay check.

He could gamble on another org looking for catching, even if his addition wouldn't mean playoffs. I mean, 3 big league clubs have used him already this year (plus a 4th had him briefly stashed away in AAA).

Bryce Johnson is getting sent out so looks like Ortiz will be added to roster today.

No clue how accurate this is, but…. Why?

He has an OK WHIP (1.209). He is a pitch to contact guy and that could be dangerous on this team (9,8 K/9 and a 5+ K/BB)
