Holy hell. Do you actually know what communism is? You've got some real research to do on what these things are you're comparing college football to, because you're so insanely far off it's sad.
no, you're just wrong. sorry I have to break it to you. But your Ron Swanson avatar is a nice ironic touch.

I'm factually not wrong, but believe what you have to. Kids are able to capitalize on being great athletes, get a free college degree, free food, clothing, training, and other swag. They leave college and get a shot at the pros or can take advantage of alumni connections to get good jobs. All for 3-4 years of playing a game.

Also, Ron Swanson was an avid IU basketball fan.

Money brought in from football funds a tremendous amount of other things at many universities. It's just not that simple. Again, colleges are not for profit companies. It isn't like the FBS has 129 Googles or Microsofts. Then you have some public and some private, which throws another wrench into things.

Again, these kids are not there against their will, and their compensation is outrageous. Not only what they receive right then and there during their time on campus, but after as well.
I'd like to see some sort of compensation for the merchandise, TV contracts and other things the University is making bank on, on the backs of student athletes. I think giving general cuts to athletes would be a totally fair way of compensating them, even if it were small percentages. They could also be built into future contracts so Universities wouldn't even have to see a drop in their earnings.

You're factually wrong because you think 'capitalizing' means the government giving them tuition and a living stipend is 'capitalizing', when the bottom line is the universities are making millions.

But the very same athletes are often earning tens of millions doing the same stuff in the NFL months later.

Let them eat cake! amiright?

Know where the money from that merchandise, TV contracts, and other things the universities make bank on goes?
Tuition, room & board, food, clothing, transportation, hotel lodging, equipment, state of the art training facilities (and facility upkeep and management), nutritionists, tutors, and other staff members, on top of stipends the kids already get. All of this for the athletes. For some reason, people conveniently forget about this when they talk about paying them.

Your logic lends to you also believing CEOs should get paid the same amount as all the workers in the companies. It's just illogical and ignorant. Also, it's not the government giving them that money. It's largely from donations. LOL at it just being "tuition and a living stipend". Unbelievable ignorance.

Except you are an idiot because you don’t know that the overwhelming majority of athletic departments are currently losing money and take money from the educational side of things. Only about 1/5th of athletic departments turn a profit. So by making it the Wild West and letting universities buy up the best athletes it will widen the already huge chasm between the elite programs and those that aren’t.

Idiots like him simply don't know the first thing about what they're talking about. It truly is remarkable there are people who think that way.

Football pays for all the other college sports that most people don't give two shits about.

Basically. So if you want to pay all athletes, get ready for schools to basically trim their athletic departments down to football and basketball and that's it.

And? I thought you were the champion of the sports no one gives two shits about, with your rowing and softball threads.

Let the athletes start their own league. I'm getting the shits of all the libies calling to pay those motherfvkers. Nobody is forcing their ass to play college sports.

nope, employees should get paid what their skills and effort warrant. bringing up socialist SJW nonsense corrupts that idea here, and is probably why you still don't understand your own hypocrisy.

They can go play in the XFL or any number of semi pro leagues if they want. Nothing stopping them.

Yup, by all means. Nothing whatsoever is forcing these kids to go get a free education and improve their lives by playing a sport for 3-4 years. Go play some semi-pro league, don't get a college degree, and then fall short of the NFL and see where you wind up.

You don't know what this word means.

Players aren't employees. They're students, but since they play a game, they don't end up with the crippling student loan debt that millions of other kids wind up with. Those poor, poor kids.
