If I was the FO I would either pick up a vet with knowledge of the offense or draft a young guy to become the eventual starter. I have no faith in Weeden. Also since this offense like to throw to the TE quite a bit, I'd probably think about getting a new TE, someone like Winslow who has really had success in this scheme.

I still think you have to give Weeden a shot to conpete with whoever they decide to bring in. Alex might be a great fit for them. I believe they are on the cusp of having a really great defense under Horton. You're absolutely right about their TE situation.

This is a team that really needs to look at FA to upgrade a couple spots on their offensive line, TE, a pass rusher, and another Cb to play opposite Joe Haden. I do think they are having the best offseason this far, though.

Ryan Bartow:

The Arizona Cardinals have hired former Clemson great Brentson Buckner as their new DL coach.

That comes way out of left field to me. Here's his résumé as far as I know it:

Player

Pittsburgh Steelers - 1994-1996
Cincinnati Bengals - 1997
San Francisco 49ers - 1998-2000
Carolina Panthers -2001-2005

Coach

I found an article from July saying he was named the first ever head coach of the Charlotte Speed of the Professional Indoor Football League. However, it says the team isn't expected to play until March of 2013, so I guess that means he's out then?

Also, if you're curious about obscure football information like me. There's an Indoor Football League and a Professional Indoor Football League. No relation. Odd. The Professional Indoor Football League is the one that Terrell Owens was apart of I believe.

After Buckner retired, he spent time at ESPN and NFL Network as an analyst. I remember him partnering with the NFL, but I don't recall him at ESPN?

Recently he was also the head coach of the Northside Christian Academy high school football team in Charlotte, NC along with a couple other NFL players who served as assistants on his staff: Myron Bell, Mo Collins, and Omari Jordan.

He also has OFFSEASON coaching experience as an intern with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Adam Schefter just reported on Sunday NFL Countdown that Chip Kelly signed a 5-year contract with the Eagles worth $6.5M/year, $32M overall. It puts him at the "tail end" of the top 10 highest paid coaches in the NFL.

Adam Schefter:

In Seattle, New Jets GM John Idzik was a supporter of QB Tarvaris Jackson, whose price tag fits into what cap-strapped Jets could afford.

Forget about the idea of Eagles QB Michael Vick following Marty Mornhinweg to Jets. Neither would be interested in the idea of reuniting.

Adam Schefter just reported that people in the NFL wanted to speak to Kevin Sumlin more than any other college head coach this year. He'll be a name to watch next year, he says.

Ryan O'Halloran:

The #Jaguars have retained WR coach Jerry Sullivan and LB coach Mark Duffner.

Good! There was talk he might end up in Arizona to reunite with Fitzgerald. He is considered by many to be the best WR coach in the NFL.

Y'know what the NFL should do? Each team should just have a designated token minority whose job it is to interview for every single position they offer in under 15 minutes. He could memorize the answers to the questions and speed talk like the micro machines guy from the 90's.

I hate how racist and stupid these liberal trial lawyer types are with their moronic rules that just waste people's time (or worse).
