The statement of "how many players have succeeded at that height" is a logical fallacy. This is due to the fact that there aren't very many RB's to ever play at that height. Of course, there won't be many as a result. There are, however, many like Barry Sanders, Ray Rice, MJD, Michael Turner, etc. have succeeded within that range of height.

Also, height really isn't a factor for RB's. In fact, being short has its advantages as a RB. He's plenty big at 207. That should be more what you look at here.

To me, with RB's it is ALL (and I mean ALLL) about volume and opportunity. An open path to lead duties in KC? It doesn't get ANY better.

True and talking about sample size...we've never seen a 5'7" with average speed...really for that height and size, 4.6 is below average. So the sample size gets even smaller but that also is the point here. The whole thread was based on "why is he going top 5 or even top 7-8 and does he deserve to be there?". Well considering there is no sample size for a guy with his size and speed...that involves even more risk in this pick imo.

It is about opportunity, for sure...but this is the NFL...a couple games of dropped passes and 3.0 ypc and there will be a guy on the bench waiting for their opportunity.

Like I said, this is about his value as a 1st round pick. His opportunity and system fit is great but does he have skill AND opportunity to be valued as a 1st rounder....we will see. Too much risk imo.

What benefit do I have taking CEH over Mixon, Jacobs or even Aaron Jones, Ekeler, Cook...all these guys have great OPPORTUNITY as well.

Look I don't mind taking him in PPR bc his value is much higher IMO but I am not taking him 1st rd in any draft especially not in standard.

Oh, I get it.

It is an extremely risky pick. The floor for CEH is basement level.

But the ceiling is higher than any player not named McCaffery or Barley.

That is why he is being drafted where he is.

Probably a little too high, but I don’t think it is crazy either.

But also I don’t fear rookies. I once took Zeke Elliot at #1 overall.

I don't care if he is a rookie, it's about his skillset. I think we all can agree, he will be better suited in a PPR but I don't think he is a special runner. Zeke was and is a special runner and he is an all-around back that can also block. I think if CEH can't block, that right off the bat could lower his snap count.

true, but mahomes is a mobile back... They can manage without an elite blocker... especially if the fear of a screen pass or check down is there...

It's funny and all to sarcastically call him RB1, but when road meets rubber you're looking for value. I'm playing PPR and Helaire is nice, very nice, but if he's going to cost me a top of the 1st round pick (12 teams), I don't think I can do it and would rather throw a dart at another rookie RB later on. Risk is too much for a guy going that high for me.

(pssst, that other rookie RB to throw a dart at later is named JK Dobbins)

If he’s there, I’m taking him 8th overall. I like him and Jonathon Taylor at their prices this year. The kid has a lot of opportunity in the running and passing game while running for the best offense in the league. I don’t think he will need a shit load of touches in a PPR league to be a top ten RB. Taylor is going to be running behind one of the best lines (and run blocking guards) in the league. He’s only got to compete with marlon Mack to be a bell cow back. Hinds is always going to be the change of pace guy.

Not to kick a dead horse.... I can see from the comments there are many owners in CEH's corner.
Did one more search on Andy Reid's career in both Philly and KC.
Searched all RB with 250 touches or more.

CEH had his best season in college with 1867 scrimmage yards and 17 TD.
In Andy Reid's system which spans 21 seasons, only 2 RB have eclipsed what CEH did in college (Jamaal Charles in 2013 and Brian Westbrook (twice) in 2006 and 2007).
Also only 7 RB (in 21 seasons) had more than 300 total touches in Reid's system.
A system, mind you, with some quality talent and weapons.

To me, this shows that CEH has some huge expectations to live up to.
He not only has to play as well or better than he did in college, but he has to do this against better defenses.

And while I'm at it, since KC did win the Super Bowl, it might be worth mentioning that history is not always kind to the champs in the following season.
Also worth mentioning that of all the RB who made the 250-touch list in Andy Reid's system, only 2 played all 16 games. (Duce Staley in 1999 and Kareem Hunt in 2017)
And since I'm throwing CEH under the bus this much, Jonathan Taylor (his fellow rookie and was the #1 RB prospect prior to the NFL draft) not only had 500 more scrimmage yards than CEH, but he did it in less games and was more consistent.

Well, I just took him 7th in my big money keeper league. Now there were some keepers of course ahead of him, but I took him ahead of both Chubb and Mixon and don't regret it for a second. And once again, I've said it before and I will say it again. I am completely basing my faith in CEH on Andy Reid's reaction when he drafted him. He looked like a kid in a candy store and that is enough for me. Also, they didn't even bother signing another running back when Damien Williams opted out other than Deandre Washington and they've already cut him, so they obviously have faith in him because they aren't going to just let Darrel Williams or Darwin Thompson carry the load. I could be wrong at the end of the year, but to me he actually has less question marks than Chubb (Hunt stealing touches) and Mixon (injury history and rookie quarterback).

I've taken Darrell Williams as a late round stab in the dark in several leagues now, just in case this ends up being more of a RBBC than people think.

lots of folks thinking CEH is a sure thing scares me when he doesn't have the same profile as previous 'sure thing' rookie RBs

Yeah, he isn’t going to bust.

This offense is simply too good. And opposing defenses can’t key on the run.

the amazing thing is, he was supposed to be a good receiver... but the chiefs just want to showcase his running ability today...

He ain't a bust, that much is obvious. He also ain't getting ten+ touchdowns with that kind of short yardage work from tonight, so he'd better damned well get 100 every night to be a first rounder

Is it wrong that I'm happy about his debut but also just left with the most sour taste ever. After he was stuffed 7 times from the 1 or 2. When none were his fault. CAN YOU NOT GET TOTALLY BLOWN UP BY HOU'S FRONT ONCE IN THAT PERSONNEL!!?? GOOD LORD.

I also have Johnson, who I'm happy about, and much more moderately pissy over Watson taking it at the inch line. Like, I would normally understand Watson taking it himself there. But on top CEH I was robbed.

I got nearly 40 between the two, but I left multiple TD's out there.

Okay, I'm done bitching.

Game script.

Game was basically over at that point with both 2nd half red zone drives.

Normally I would think Reid would use different personnel and spread things out a little more.
