think this has been touched on already, but the chiefs were playing with a lead.

game script will mostly be in their favor.

That means long second half play with CEH amassing carries.

He is going to do very well. 1st round worth for sure.

if this continues, without a doubt worth the investment for fantasy.

I'll still be risk averse enough with my 1st round picks that I'll need that top 10 draft pick investment from an NFL team for me to pull the trigger that early in fantasy. Just like we'll never know what Hunt's rookie season would've been like without the Ware injury, we'll never know what CEH's would've been without Damien opting out.

And someone will give the chiefs a good game at some point this season (I think???), so we'll see how that looks from a workload distribution as well.

I am in 10 leagues and did not perform poorly enough in any of the dynasties to get him and did not think highly enough of him to get him in redrafts ahead of established RBs.

right there with ya, but if he keeps getting +20 touches every week, something that I didn't think would happen, I'm willing to take the L and admit I was wrong on him. being the only RB on a high powered offense with positive game scripts is fantasy gold in most instances. if CEH didn't get more than what was blocked for him on most of his runs last night, neither did Darrell Williams. and CEH has way more wiggle than Darrell

Well said.

Results of all RB (from 1990) who had at leas 100 yards rushing in their very first game. Some quality names on the short list.

But he has a Terrance West body type

I was really lucky that the only dynasty start up draft we did this year happened before the Damien Williams opt out so I got him in the 3rd round of that one. I did only draft him in one other redraft (my keeper league that I picked 6th in but Zeke and Cook were both kept) though because I had nothing lower than the 6th pick in any of them and he was my RB7 and was already gone by the time it got back to me in the 2nd round in all of them. He went before I picked in one of them (#4 overall) but even that was too much for me and I'm a believer. It's only one game so we'll see if he keeps it up. All that was talked about was his pass catching prowess and then he didn't catch a pass and wasn't on the field for 3rd downs. So they still don't feel comfortable with him picking up blitzes which means Darrell Williams is still going to be on the field a good bit on 3rd downs or if they are actually playing from behind (obvious passing situations) at least at the beginning of the year.

Was reading a few articles on DVOA (which is becoming a reliable predictor of NFL teams' success).
Not to diminish what CEH did in his first game, but the Texan's DVOA is a lowly ranking of 23 (-3.3%).
For reference, the Bears, Chargers and Raiders rank higher than the Texans.

here is the thing... going into the season nobody thought he would be a great red zone guy. We all saw the writing on the wall. Hoped we were wrong. And we still could be.

but nobody was drafting him for that. We always said he is the number one rb for the best offensive team in football. And it was said he would be an elite pass catching back.

everyone who drafted him drafted him with the assumption he remained the kc #1. And that by itself gave him an extremely high floor.

For sure.

He would still a be a 3rd rounder if Damien were playing.

But he isn’t.

Sooo...where is all the gushing CEH love this weekend?
I mean, that was a bad game and he still got 12+ points PPR... pretty solid floor isn't it???

We all agreed he was much more valuable in a PPR league but saw him in standard leagues going first round as well. Saw him going about 5 or 6 in PPR though.

It just depends on how the game goes. Mahomes threw 47 times. Darwin got 4 of the 14 carries. We will see going forward but CEH doesn't seem to be much of a threat near the goal line early in the season, which kills his value.

Reid got his Darren Sproles Jr.

LOL Sproles. CEH is a different player and Sproles was a lightning bolt, CEH isn't. He was more of a threat in the passing game this week but he is a better runner than Sproles already. For CEH it's good to see when he doesn't have a good running game that he can be implemented into the passing game...so that is a plus.

I'm sure he did - and I'm relatively sure he will post weekly number in the RB1/2 range in that offense. But you do have to give as much credit to the Andy Reid system as to the guy involved - - it's been true for quite a number of years - high draft pick or not. ....
