I cant figure this damn thing out .. if ya put the muffs on it .. it will run full bore all day in the driveway .. but as soon as ya put it in the water it bogs out and ya have no power

does it have old gas in it, sounds like the valves and or carb is gummed up. What kind of motor?

it seams that the problem started after I bought new plastic tanks for it .. and I went to a differant type of disconnect .. I have changed the fuel line and all the vacume hoses .. the carbs are clean and I have fresh fuel

the thing is if you didn't run out all the fuel at the end of the season the gas left behind the head will sometimes turn into like a gummy like varnish and you might need to take it off and clean the head and the top of the pistons, i had the same problem with a 1976 evunrude 65 horse, whiich is in line and yours should be too and just have one head on it. It sounds hard but its not really that bad , But it could be something else,

if it was in the fuel line it wouldn't be running, so that kind of excludes that.

It could also be the fuel air mixture is out of adjustment also. that would be easier than checking the head/valves.

there should be 3 rubber plugs in the front of the motor if i'm not mistaken and you pull them out and i think the adjustment screws are in behind it, Its been about 10 years since i had to do it so i'm not for sure but i think that is where it is.

I know the thing about boats, they always give ya a headache, just part of being a boat owner, just like a motorcycle, you dont drive them all the time , the simplest little things can mes them up , Good luck with it.

I can go out there right now put on the muffs and turn the key one time and she will fire right up

then its most likely the fuel air mixture, but you have to adjust it on the water as your runniing it, also could be the fuel filter located on the left side , might take it off and check the screen for debris.
