Good comment. I would like the Rams to take a chance on RG3, for the right price.

I think STL or HOU should take a chance on this guy...if planned as the starter the pay is going to relfect that so he won't be cheap, but should get less than Cousins is going to get.

I hate to tell you this, but while the Chargers have reportedly agreed to stay in 2016, it has since been reported that the Chargers and the Rams in principle agreed to share a stadium in Inglewood, so it is just the matter of time to the point where the Chargers become the Los Angeles Chargers
The agreement with the Rams was just to have leverage and a back up plan when talking to San Diego about the new stadium. I heard about the Chargers/Rams agreeing before the news about the Chargers playing in San Diego this coming season, if they had the agreement and it was official why bother playing in SD? Chargers might be heading to LA :hellno: or might be staying in SD , but it'll probably be a few months before we know for sure.

Not sure I will be in the mix for a vote - being that I live in North County, but I'll vote to approve the new stadium, if involved.

Only thing I'm wary of is that this is just a ruse from Spanos to stay in SD for one year without pissing off the locals even more. Can't say I believe he's completely genuine...

After the vote, the environmental impact studies/review will be the next potential impasse and this is what the Chargers/Spanos have been harping on all this time.

Hey, no argument here - Yes to staying in San Diego and No to coming to Los Angeles. I really think San Diego needs the Chargers far more then Los Angeles. Now If I could just talk the Clippers into joining them -

Will try to get stadium built in SD. If it doesn't get done the deal in LA is final.

ROGER GOODELL STATEMENT ON CHARGERS

"We are very supportive of the decision by Dean Spanos to continue his efforts in San Diego and work with local leaders to develop a permanent stadium solution. NFL ownership has committed $300 million to assist the cost in building a new stadium in San Diego. I have pledged the league's full support in helping Dean to fulfill his goal. "

I hope you guy's can get it done... Football is great for the community ... Although it's amazing how these millionaires expect so much in tax dollars from the people... It's a pretty effin sweet deal for them... But if you guy's can get it done DO IT.... You might not ever see another NFL team in your city...

Is this basically him hoping the city of San Diego will build him a new stadium free of charge or he moves in 2017? Sounds like it.
If the residents of San Diego don't want an NFL team who are we to criticize them?

Wish the Clippers could have stayed in San Diego, LA needs to stop trying to take all of San Diego's teams! At least they'll still have the Padres...

I don't know who the dumb ass was that brought the Clippers to Los Angeles, but it was a bad move. The Clippers will always be second to the Lakers and treated as such and in San Diego, they would have a much better fan base

I don't know how good or bad their attendance was in SD, that could have factored into it. The Chargers in LA would be second fiddle to the Rams like the Clippers are to the Lakers even if they're much better right now, another reason they should stay.

The newspapers have already pointed that out two - I am a person though that believes on major franchise for each city is the best, although it's worked out well for the Dodgers and Angels.

You might want to check why the Ram owner moved the team from the Los Angeles Colisuem. One of the main reasons were that they could never sell out, the +90,000 seats prior to the NFL 72 hour requirement to show the game live on Television.

History of the Los Angeles Rams - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

That was when the Rams moved out of LA to go to Anaheim & that was in 1980! They didn't move to St. Louis until 1995 (I should know - I was at the last game which was vs. Redskins). Big difference between moving just down the road to Anaheim & moving cross country.

So...in all these years we've been hearing about stadium issue in SD it's never come to a poll? Interesting...I assume that's on the docket now or there's no reason to ponder for a yr.
Nope, it's never gotten that far. Both sides, and the economy, are to blame. Now both sides seem to be on the same page with regards to finally getting it to a vote. The media has reported a June vote, but the mayor and Spanos both agree November is much more likely.

Sure would help if the Chargers were around 7-2 in early November, lol....

The last time we voted on a stadium was 1998, it passed easily. Many credit the Padres reaching the World Series a month earlier for providing the momentum, but most feel it would have passed anyway. And nobody can argue that Petco Park has been a huge success.

Actually even though Sterling is a jerk & it was a bad move for the franchise it worked out well for Sterling since Ballmer gave him $2B for the team.

BTW - Sterling always knew that it was kind of a challenge but wanted to go to LA to impress his rich Beverly Hills buddies. He could have also have gone to more receptive area in Anaheim but also turned that down.

Curious about your take on this one - some have said that San Diego is a challenge since you do have a good core population base in the immediate area but you have areas like Mexico to the South & desert to the East that making attracting a consistent crowd a real challenge. What do you think?

Mexico to the south is a huge advantage, and something the NFL loves about San Diego, as they market heavily there. The Mexican National team also plays frequently at Qualcomm, and there's been talk of more cross-border events now that Tijuana has a legit team in Liga MX. The San Diego-Tijuana region has around 5 million people.

San Diego fans always take a lot of heat for the number of opposing fans that attend our games. But that will always happen. I've been here 36 years and know the Charger fanbase is as loyal as they come, but when you're one of the largest military towns in the country as well as a top tourist destination you'll always have opposing fans in your building. I do think a new stadium would convince more diehard Charger fans to become season ticket holders and minimize that issue somewhat.

It's a Military town - lots of people from somewhere else. You have: Naval Base in Coronado, MCAS Miramar and Camp Pendleton just up the road. Then you have smaller bases dotting the county/city. They probably do have a strong following in TJ. Locally there is a good fanbase, but they don't go to games like they should... could be the cost of living, other things to do and the fact they've pretty much underachieved over their entire existence.

I thought he was, but I wasn't sure if they moved to Los Angeles before he bought the team or shortly after. I remember back in the early 80's I started paying closer attention to the NBA and the Clippers were always losing. Some one said that was because they was a new franchise.

Ok - good info. Is it a hassle for people from Mexico to make the trip back & forth? I sure hope you keep your team especially since LA now has one team (& could get the Raiders). They don't need 2 teams & could find that to be a real burden down the road. Why in the world they would welcome back the Raiders is beyond me - that is one team that I feel has absolutely no loyalty to their fans even though their fans are very loyal.

Very easy, especially with the SENTRI program and Ready Lanes. The TJ-SD border is the most crossed land border crossing on earth.
