That would be a hard sell. The Combined Statistical area around Salt Lake does have a population of 2.4 million, but 55-65% of them are Mormon, who would not attend a Sunday game. Obviously not 100% of Mormons would stick to that rule, but it is a big enough deal that the Jazz never have a home game on a Sunday.

I suppose factoring all that in it puts them at about the population of Jacksonville, but the Jags are the only team in town. I don't think the population left would allow for a second major sports team.

If you look at population growth, San Antonio and Austin area seems a logical possibility for sure. The area will soon have two top-10 cities by population, though many of those people are Cowboys fans right now and Jerrah will surely protest another Texas franchise.

Full disclosure: I grew up in a community called Buford. That was the name of my high school as well.

I don't think we could support an NFL team but I'd be willing to give it a shot.
