Yeah, I mean you really can't even put Alabama above Auburn for this year, let alone UGA
Because of head to head? In that case, Illinois > Wisconsin.

I'd take Bama over Auburn or Georgia this year on a neutral field...even without Tua. They have a whole shitpot full of 4*-5*s.

Illinois lost to a bunch of other teams that makes the H2H meaningless. Alabama didn't beat any team that Auburn lost to.

I'd agree 100% if you'd have mentioned some of the teams from those conferences. You really think Purdue and Miss State are going to make the CFP soon?

You know what? I've seen Miss. State play when they were ranked #1!

Here is the indisputable visual evidence:

I was agreeing with you...H2H is meaningless in many cases.

BTW, Bama didn't even play two of the teams that beat Auburn so just how the hell are they supposed to beat them? Or are you one of those transitive property guys? Georgia beat Auburn so Georgia > Bama. Florida beat Auburn so Florida > Bama. smh

If USF can ascend to #2 in the rankings, then it's not impossible for anyone.

...and the CFP quit ranking teams that early because it showed the stupidity in doing so. They are still doing it too early IMHO.

Auburn has plenty of talent. Alabama without Tua simply is not as good as Auburn.

The Bulldogs didn't lose until 11/15/2014 @ Alabama. They were 9-0 and had beaten 3 top 10ish teams to get that way. Miss. State's biggest sin that year was being in the same division as Alabama - who went on to win the West and the SEC. The SEC West was an absolute BITCH in 2014! That little detail would derail most teams in CFB. BTW, Bully had some QB named Dak, Dak, I forget his last name that year! :)

Yep....proof that people are willing to do things they know are absolutely stupid if paid enough money.

You old enough to remember pet rocks?

For sure. Amazing the things that become fads. One of my kiddos was obsessed with the Furby craze back in the late 90s.

Doesn't every generation have it's elite teams of the era?

Do you think college football will forever be this way?

Much of it has to do with elite coaches, of which there are only a few in each generation.

Where was Clemson before Dabo?
.

90s probably would have largely consisted of Nebraska/Florida/FSU/Tennessee and some other teams like Kansas State/Ohio State/Penn State/Michigan/Notre Dame.

2000s probably would have been mostly OU/Texas/USC/Ohio State with some LSU, Florida, Miami and Virginia Tech sprinkled in.

The 10 best programs of each decade in CFB history

They weren't this year on one date for sure.

And Auburn wasn't as good as Georgia on one date this year.

But neither of those tell us if Georgia or Bama is better this year because they didn't play.

I do know this. LSU 46 Bama 41 LSU 37 Georgia 10

I'd be curious to see how the Auburn game goes against an Oregon team not decimated by WR injuries.

See 2010, or do you need another excuse?

Utah was sanctioned by the NCAA?

Utah was 4-6 in 03 and 5-6 in 04 … IF they weren't sanctioned, then they should have been. You claim that Auburn was garbage as an undefeated SEC team compared to USC and Oklahoma … which was the 04 season … but if that is true, if the final ranking of #2 is far superior to any season in Ducks history, excepting the year you lost the BCSCG, to Auburn. If our number two final ranking nationally, SEC championship and three of the top five NFL draft picks season when the only other undefeated team was stripped of their wins and title was a garbage … imagine what it must be like to have two of the best teams field in Oregon history lose to that garbage team. It must be like being a fan of the San Fran shit on a street. Good luck with that.

...and they lost three of their last four. Granted, Miss State was good that year with Dak.

Ranking teams that early is equivalent to Ready, Fire, Aim.

TCU would have played you guys better than Oregon did that year IMO. Wisconsin too.

That would have been a good year for a four team playoff IMO.

1. I do not believe any players from the 2010 squads played in the game this season.
2. Auburn's 2004 squad did not play any Oregon teams. Additionally, Oregon's "best teams" were not around the 2004 season.
