Feel awful for Ray Smith. Hope he can make a full recovery. He is a really talented kid. It'll be interesting to see what Miller does with that lineup. Zona won't have a true SF this year, like in years past. Zona is loaded at PG an SG though. My guess is Miller goes with:

PG: Jackson-Cartwright/Simon
SG: Allen
SG: Trier
PF: Anderson
C: Zeus

with York, Simon/Jackson-Cartwright, Pitts and Tollefsen first off the bench. I guess he could conceivably play Anderson as SF, but that would really hurt defensively.

Miller has been known for defensive teams the last couple years, I think this team will rely more on offense to win games.

:2cents:

Great points. AZ is loaded big and small, with not much in the middle. But I still think Miller has the versatility to overcome the lack of wings. Miller likes to adjust minutes based on how big/small and fast/slow the competition is. I think Tolly can be an effective wing, and so can Trier. I think SG is York's to lose, but he can definitely lose it. Allen looked good in the red/blue scrimmage.

I can even see Miller moving York to PG to backup PJC if Simon doesn't do well. That would also free up some minutes at SG.

I think Miller is going to use a lot of interesting combinations on the court this season.

I'm ready for the season to start just to see what the Dawgs have. Returning almost no one, big recruiting class, it should be entertaining to say the least.

MSU is probably going to be great next season (2016-17) but despite losing Trice and Dawson I think they will be solid this year. Eron Harris transferred in from WVU and will be a big addition now that he can play, he averaged 17 PPG as a freshman there. Valentine is a good PG but he still makes careless and stupid mistakes, especially late in games. They are weak as hell down low however, that will be the Achilles heel I think. Maryland is going to win the B1G in all likelihood but I think MSU is going to compete as well.

Denzel Valentine at PG?

He played a good amount of minutes at the point during their summer trip to Italy and played PG in high school, it sounds like he will be logging a lot of minutes there this year. Tum Tum Nairn is still raw and will probably be solid in a couple years but Valentine is much more of a threat offensively than Nairn at point.

Maryland's going to be a juggernaut, clearly the class of the conference...but
Tom Izzo's permanent grin these days is NOT solely due to his 2016 class...
This year's team is loaded...they're Final Four experienced and are going to be a tough out for anybody...we'll see how good they are soon enough - they've got Kansas, Boston College, Louisville, Florida and most likely Arizona in preseason play.

go green

(what a rare treat it is sporting perennial national contenders in both cbb and cfb)

Marquette out of conference isn't as strong this year. But we have to play goddamn Belmont right off the bat. SMH.

Watching Texas in an exhibition against D2 Tarleton State, who was close to winning the D2 thing last year.

Wow. I cant ever remember a Texas team with this kind of depth. Plus, the freshmen Eric Davis, Tevin Mack and 'Snoop' Roach are all quality players who will be the foundation for this team for the next few years.

Roach is the guy who earlier in off season jumped and touched the top of the backboard...He's only 6-4, but he's stealing the show so far tonight. Can shoot the three, and had a posterizing power slam earlier.

Cant wait to watch this team grow and get used to Shaka Smart's system, they could be special.
