I don't see why both sides can't just agree on a temporary 2 or 3 year contract agreement instead of the usual 5+ yr deal and see how the fans/public reacts during that period, along with TV ratings, gate revenues, overall national economy...etc.
I agree why can’t they just come back every few years to renegotiate instead of making a big 5+ year deal where down the road they may not want previous stuff in it

The two sides need to sit down, discuss issues and get a deal done. Neither side wants to delay the season opening on March 31. They have about 2 weeks to get the deal done to be sure they can make that date.

Yeah, the game can't handle any kind of extended work stoppage. Hockey will pass it at that point.

Word.

Rangers actually being good for a change has been a nice distraction from the fact that pitchers and catchers should be in camp right now.

It’s really sad cause the players aren’t really asking for much

Nothing that is worth giving the owners extended playoffs

That chip is only worth 4 years fa, while taking out service time manipulation and a higher minimum salary

I'm curious what the players are 'offering' as compromise.

Sad thing is they're not having real negotiations. If a meeting concluded after 1 hour as the one on Saturday did then there's very little possibility of coming to any deal

They asked for a real number like 260m

Not even keeping up with inflation for a few facto cap is a laughable stance

Evan Drellich of The Athletic reports that Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association have scheduled a collective bargaining session for Thursday.

Drellich adds that the Players Union is preparing to make a proposal at that time. The two sides haven't met since Major League Baseball presented a counterproposal to the Players Union last Saturday, in a meeting which lasted less than an hour. With spring training being delayed, significant progress still needs to be made on core economic issues before a new Collective Bargaining Agreement can be finalized, but there's still an outside chance that the 2022 regular season starts on time. Opening Day remains scheduled for March 31.

Career minor leaguer? I had him penciled in as the Phillies 3rd starter this year.
Maybe so, but he still hasn’t had his cuppo yet…

And hard to believe this guy has been in the minors for 8 years already. Seems like just yesterday he was drafted with a big “FUTURE BUST” tattooed on his forehead.

Yeah I looked him up and I was surprised to see that. Gotta give him credit for sticking with it I guess.

He did parlay his college career into a 1st overall pick after being drafted lower a couple other times. Hopefully he invested his bonus money well.

Not verified yet-but rumors circulating that the owners want 7 teams from each league making the postseason-3 division winners 4 wild cards.

Top division winner gets a bye, #2 division winner gets their pick of the WCs, #3 picks who they want from who's left. The last 2 play each other, and winner of that gets the top seed coming off the bye.

If it wasn't a crap shoot before, it sure as shit will be now, if reports are true.

Players can’t give that with so little in return

Make 7 inning games the norm and shorten the season to 54 games. Abolish the batting order. 7 teams in each league make the playoffs.

Now THAT is a winning product!

pretend that is all written in green ink
