Can't believe the Cavs.

They didn't want to give up any picks/player in a Bynum/Gasol trade but they give up a 1st round pick and two 2nd round picks with Bynum to get Deng?

Whatever!

Apparently the Cavs perceived Deng a younger, more athletic, and viable option than Gasbag. That is all the Lakers wanted in additional assets. They would have settled for two second round picks for Gasbag or a player. But again, apparently the rest of the league knows what we know that Gasbag is soft in the head. This pretty much confirms that Gasbag will walk this summer without the Lakers getting anything for him.

Agreed! We won't get shit for him! Either because people think the Lakers are trying to screw them or he just isn't worth it! Probably both!

Damn, I was hoping to steal Deng! :gaah:

Gilbert hates the Lakers. We'd be sitting pretty with CP3, D12, and Kobe if not for this guy.

Bulls did well with this trade getting cap relief and draft picks. The Cavs could have rented Gasol for cheaper though. I doubt Deng resigns in Cleveland.

This is a front office blunder once again. Pau Gasol should have been gone once the Lakers aquired Dwight Howard. Now they are stuck with him and once again, they won't get anything for a player they should have dealt. This team is on a downward spiral and may not recover for a couple years.

I can't put this one on the front office. They needed to get something back other than the cap relief. Gasol still has value and there is about 6 weeks until the trade deadline.

Exactly my thought. Very strange.

If the Lakers make any moves, it'll be signing Seth Curry as insurance for our point guard issues. If Deng is a FA this summer, he likely will become a target for the Lakers for an offer. I think Deng will be pursued by the Lakers, but they had better get their idiot coach on the same page because what he is doing to Kaman is ridiculous. After Kaman makes an effort to be here and take less money on a one year deal, he is not being touted by Don'tknowi as not one of his guys. Freakin idiot is going to run this club into the ground if he is not careful.

God I hope we end up with Brian Shaw one day. Love to have Fisher as an assistant too.

Fans would go apeshit over that!

I would pursue Deng only if he's willing to take a pay cut. He is not worth a max extension giving his age and wear & tear. Dude has logged a lot of minutes throughout his career and he's pushing 30. He is making $14.2 million this season. Any deal for Deng must allow for a star player (K-Love) to be signed the following summer.

I think it's more important we keep the youth and athleticism in this team. Re-sign Young, Henry and Hill.

Heck, I would love it if Kareem spent all summer training with Hill. Make him a beast on offense.

I say we keep them all except Williams. The rest of them are young, athletic, and good players that like playing with each other, want to be with the Lakers, and really when coached properly never quit.

If the Cavs were interested in giving up picks (which we so badly need), why didn't Mitch offer someone else in the deal with Gasol for Bynum. I am still not understanding why this deal didn't go through. We are now stuck with Pau Gasol and his HUGE salary and he walks at the end of the season with nothing to show for it. Oh well, maybe I am missing something here.

The Cavs needed to add pieces to make the trade work. The Lakers adding another player just means the Cavs would have had to include even more assets.

The Lakers aren't stuck with Gasol. There is still around 6 weeks left until the trade deadline. I don't think the Lakers stand pat. If the Lakers can deal to get under the luxury tax threshold, they will.

Yea TEB11, since they put Williams on waivers why didn't they package Williams with Gasbag and try that? I guess Cleveland wasn't interested in too many of our stiffs.

Fucken :bullshit: I'm pretty sure Dan Gilbert didn't want to help us the same way he was the one crying like a bitch when we traded for Chris Paul. Makes no sense, but yet he helps a team in the same division. :L
