So 32 franchises, with thousands upon thousands of various employees involved over the years that largely change like m&m's, have apparently managed to maintain a massive secret of the entire league being rigged?

:tsk: I don't know how you were taught to eat M&Ms, but you're doing it wrong. You're thinking of Kit Kat bars.

It only takes one guy to cheat in sports, and that's not exactly something he's going to post on facebook. How long did it take before we knew about Tim Donaghy ini the NBA?

How'd you get this pic of @FlyerFinFan? He usually guards against this pretty well.
I can't see the whole league scripted like WWE is but refs being paid off from time to time absolutely... especially in NE. BB sold his soul long ago...

I’m not say that they rigged it either way or that any game is. But could have been the case in the past. This non-call was total incompetence, non-professional, that is all.
May be still not rigged

or the sheep don't see.

See Tim Donaghy of the NBA.

he called out the NBA for doing it, no one cared.

He participated in it first hand.

I don't think the NFL is rigged... But I do think refs can be paid off, so you have to watch them closely... Problem is the league doesn't have them as full time employees, which they should be... Lot's of gambling and temptation that can arise... I think most of the time the games are legit, but sometimes it can make you wonder WTF is going on when you see some of the ridiculous calls that swing the tide of a game.... REFS must be watched and watched closely, and I don't think Roger Goodell is the guy that should be commish, he's not straight up ....

To get to a key player, that means you're likely talking about paying off a guy whose making 10-20 mil per season. The max bet in any Vegas sports book might pay that guys credit card bill for one month. lol. He's going to risk everything for literally zero gain.

Mmmkay

So far as officials? You'd have to provide me an example of NFL games which actually stands out as fishy. We know for a fact LAR was boned as much as NO in that game. That's always the problem with crying a game as being rigged. I've never seen one where the winning team wasn't also screwed over at some point.

99% of NFL games go by without any type of true game shifting incident as a result of officiating. It actually amazes me how well they call such a chaotic, violent game.

You watch too many movies...
You trusting sap...

If BB sold his soul then why would NE need to pay off refs?

Overview of fixing games in the NFL...The NFL is far and away the most lucrative sports league in the world, and has comfortably displaced MLB as America's sports past time.

imo, the owners have too much to lose for there to be some type of wide spread fixed outcome of the games. One reason the owners have long been against having a team in LV was to keep teams and players as far away from gambling temptation as possible.

That said, are we to believe that EVERY game is on the up and up? In a world full of corruption, and greed, I think that would be a very naïve position to take.

I feel like I've clarified my position on this several times already, yet people still misconstruing what I'm saying. I've never suggested that there are absolutely zero games that end up corrupted by something like crooked officials, or something of that nature. The ONLY thing I have ever argued against is that it's a wide-scale conspiracy by some higher ups in the league to fix most or all big games at WWE levels, which is what a lot of tinfoil hatters have been suggesting on this forum.

It'd be nice if people argued against what is actually said rather than reading it the way they want to see it as at the expense of context just so they can get salty and argumentative. I'm not calling you out specifically on that.

Every game may not be on the up and up, but I doubt it's by direction pre snap. Refs are human and sometimes screw up. Take the non call in the Saints game, I think it was in the minds of the Refs not to be part of the game, yet by not tossing the flag that's exactly what happened.

It's quite possible mid 4th qtr the head official on the field told his crew "Don't be part of the game" effectively fucking up their judgement.

I honestly think there's a good chance that they withheld that flag as repentance for their failure to toss a yellow rag out when Goff got face masked on the Rams drive right before that drive. Does any of that make the missed PI/helmet to helmet call right? No. Personally, I think it sucks that they missed either of them.

But with all of that in mind, I just don't get how people can rail on and on so hard about the no-call PI for the Saints without simultaneously being just as upset with the no-call face mask on Goff. The Goff no-call cost the Rams the chance to take a lead that a FG wouldn't tie; the no-call PI for the Saints cost the Saints the opportunity to essentially end the game with a game-winning FG but still allowed them to take the lead. So to me, all of the people getting hung up on the call that screwed the Saints without taking into consideration just how badly the Rams got screwed on the drive literally right before that are being disingenuous at best.

Basically, either be upset with both calls, or maintain the position of "let 'em play" for both calls. Getting butthurt about one but not the other is pathetic.

Basically, being upset about both calls would be a respectable enough position. But to just assume that the Saints were still going to pull off the win with a TD had the Rams been given their rightful chance to go up by 4 on the drive prior is a joke.
I'm thinking both calls were missed because they didn't want to throw a flag late giving the game to any team. I don't think it was an NFL decision but an in field decision.
