Saints release Jason Smith
The Saints brought in Smith to push Charles Brown for the starting job on Drew Brees' blindside. It never happened. Third-round rookie Terron Armstead will serve as Brown's backup, as Smith heads back to the street. The No. 2 overall pick of the Rams in the 2009 draft has now been cut by two teams in the last six months. Smith is one of the biggest busts in the history of the league.
Dear friends and allies -
Bragging time. Not only did I correctly predict Stafford would be the no.1 overall pick by the Lions (and Delmas in the 2nd round but I digress), I said Jason Smith would be a total bust in the NFL, based on the extreme lack of success of Big 12 spread offense LT's in the NFL previous to that year. This was of course met with violent retort from some (not all) but most Lions fans.
And yet today, here we are.
I'll be back when Peyton Manning throws that next playoff exit INT.
Until then -
