i actually think the flyers are already at the point where another forward would be useful.. as much flack as the defense got last year, the offense was pretty putrid at times too.. there's nobody that can drive offense on the team other than giroux and voracek and they play on the same line.. and if you absolutely need a goal, you don't have a pure goal scorer to throw out on the ice.. i think both are cogs the flyers could use..

Bingo. Especially if Briere is gone and another forward goes down to injury

I understand JVR got us a good asset and Ilike that trade.
Im strictly saying if we keep trading forwards we will soon need our own.
We dont know if Couts and or Shenn will break out.
Im just worried that if Hartnell or Simmonds or god forbid Giroux go down for a length of time then we are fucked

I think Simmonds was hurt a lot of the year and still put up some decent numbers he's a tough Mfer. Harty will get better i dont think he can get worse than last year he was hurt also.schenn i expected more from last year hopefully he breaks out this year. Coots i dont know that his offense will be that good he just doesnt have the eye of the tiger in the offensive zone. Maybe we can get another good offensive piece via trade like Couburn going somewhere

i think our offense will be better due to an easier breakout and i expect our forwards to be a lot more healthy next year.

What about our young forwards like Laughton Mcginn and Cousins. i though Mcginn was ready to take a giant leap for us before that dooosh on Toronto busted his face up.

Depending on young forwards is what got us into trouble last season.

If we lose Briere we need to replace him

laughton projects as a 3rd line shut-down/agitator type.. might be able to provide some offense, but i wouldn't count on much.. i'm essentially praying cousins turns in to brad marchand, but i dont know if he'll have that much offense, and even if he does eventually, i think he spends most of next season in the AHL

mcginn i just dont know enough about.. his call up kinda came out of no where, he just happened to be playing very well for the phantoms at the time.. i liked what he brought to the flyers though for sure.. if he could bring that consistently that would be awesome

my biggest question mark is bourdon though.. i REALLY liked the way he was playing before he got his last concussion.. he's got a monster shot, he's physical, and he was playing great defense at the time of his injury.. he's never gets talked about any more though, i wonder if he's done due to concussions too

agreed. doesn't have to be a center, i'd like to see schenn play center for a while, but they definitely need another top 6 scoring threat

I dont really see a problem replacing Briere's regular season goals because in the last 2 years he's had 16 and 6 goals i think that could be replaced very easily but where we would be greatly hurt is matching his playoff scoring.

I would imagine there are some teams that would make a trade for Briere? I keep forgetting about his NTC though, so maybe not:(

Timmy P thinks that the Flyers may go after another dman and also says that the Flyers will draft a dman w their 1st pick, no surprise. He says Briere will be the first buyout and uncertain about Bryzy. My question now is what do we do with Meszarros? Does he hold any value in a trade?

Why such a big cap hit? I thought the cap hit would be what he is getting paid?

The cap hit is the average salary over the duration of the contract. Briere was making 6-7 mil over the first few years of his contract

Don't put too much stock in to panotch, he's a very small step above a troll. I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to move Mesz though. Can't imagine he'd get much more than a 3rd or 4th round pick though.

You don't think Mesz could get us better pick? He's still young, although injury prone. When healthy, he is a very good puck mover and solid on the PP. I know it's a big " if" about his health. He's still a dman and is still young.

i think the problem with mesz is he's got very little on his resume in the past 2 years, he's been hurt almost all of it.. if he can be healthy, i dont want the flyers to move him at all.. he was the flyers best dman just a few years ago.. problem is, he carries a 4 mil cap hit (ish) and plays approximately 20% of the games

I agree w you. One of our dmen will be moved in order to make room for Streit. I'd consider Coburn for the right trade.

It would be nice if we could package coburn and turn that into weber

That would be nice. On another note, the Pens locked up Malkin for $8 million extension. Say goodbye to Letang and some others. Ouch, an $8.6 cap hit in that neighborhood.
