If Machado winds up hitting 1000 home runs and breaking every record there is to break, for me his legacy will always be him being a bitch and crying about getting tagged too hard by Josh Donaldson.

That moment, then the bat fling did irreversible damage to my impression of him.

I'm confused. Are you saying there weren't other good batters? Because there were plenty- Hornsby, Gehrig, Speaker, Cobb, Collins, Foxx, etc. Or there wasn't good pitchers? Do you know who Grover Cleveland Alexander, Walter Johnson, Lefty Grove, Red Faber, or Dazzy Vance are?

And since an intelligent person (not you) might say that I'm just looking at the best players of the '20s, from 1920-1929 the major league FIP was 4.01. From, let's say, 1995-2005, the major league FIP was 4.92. So if anything, pitchers were better in the '20s.

Again, you're a fucking idiot

nope, you're a fucking stupid ass kid with minimal knowledge of baseball. Reading free books at Barnes and Noble doesn't make you a whiz kid, just a dumb shit turd stain.

the majority of the competition that Ruth played against was mediocre at best compared to the player pool of the last 65 years. Do your research dummy.

NO you don't.....you like to pretend to be a former baseball player and then post nonsensical, meaningless stats to try to cover up your limited knowledge and increasingly staggering idiocy.

BAM

Most of the words are English, and I still don't understand any of it. But it's fun anyway.

Yeah, I guess Mack knew what he was doing batting Blanco third. Of course if he was really smart he'd have him leading off

I understand them perfectly......but they are meaningless to this debate. You were wrong, I proved it, now you are butt hurt and hateful. Like a little kid that didn't get his way.

Can you tell me how they're meaningless? Are you saying they don't adjust for different years, leagues, and parks? And are you saying that the FIP being lower in the '20s is indicative of (at least) a combination of better pitchers and maybe inferior batters? And while you're at it, explain the statistics to me so I understand your comprehension. Explain FIP, wRC+, wOBA, and OPS+ to me. I don't need a formula, just a general rundown of what and how they measure. For example, batting average looks to see how many hits a player gets in PA's where he either gets a hit, gets out or forces an out, or reaches on an error. That's being vague to the point of bastardization, but it gets across the general point.

I know that if you do respond, you'll just look them up, but I bet you'll fuck up their meaning and usage even after reading about them

Again, since you're still stuck on stupid, those stats are meaningless when comparing a fat bloated decent baseball OF that played against a majority of hacks to the much more skillfull, athletic and bigger MLB of today.

Besides, Ruth had a few good early years in regards to defense.....several other OF in the modern era were and/or strong in both hitting, power and defense. Sorry, but that's a fact and not even close to being proven wrong.

So you can't explain them. Shocker
