Or more likely a hall sweeper, always looking for manual labor help in New Jersey. The labor market is tight these days.He was a system goalie so he would not have had the same career in Calgary anyhow. Kidd would have probably been a hall of famer if the Devils drafted him.

Look at the mid-90s - early 2000s drafts by the Habs.
I still have my Terry Ryan jersey
From 1987 to 2011 the Leafs only drafted 4 players in the first round who went on to amass more than 300 NHL points. Of those, only Nik Antropov and Nazem Kadri scored more than 100 of those while playing for the Leafs. They also produced one good goalie, who played his entire career for a division rival and beat them in the playoffs three times.took a walk down memory lane
1986 - #7 - Dan Woodley - 5 NHL games
1987 - #3 - traded to Boston as a sweetener for Neely / Pederson. the pick was Glen Wesley (1,400+ games)
1988 - #2 - Linden - that one turned out OK
1989 - #8 - Jason Herter - 1 NHL Game (he was a point/per game player though!)
1990 - #2 - Petr Nedved - 900+ games, but coulda been Jagr. 3 seasons with Canucks, traded for Janney, who never played for us
1991 - #7 - Alek Stojanov - 107 games (just turned into Naslund)
1992 - #21 - Libor Polasek - 0 games
1993 - #20 - Mike Wilson - 336 games of *meh*, all played elsewhere. He was part of the Peca trade that brought Mogilny though
how's THAT for setting up your team for a decade of success!

the pick sent away was Branislav MezeiAlso remember when the Canadiens traded their 1st round pick for Trevor Linden. That was a good move.
Oh there is no way that Habs don't draft Jeff Jillson with that pick if they kept it. Can't prove it, but I know it. Thats when they were in their drafting American defensemen phase. So yeah, that would have been a disaster too.the pick sent away was Branislav Mezei
and you got a 1st back from Washington when you traded him away Alexander Perezhogin (along with Bulis and Zednik).
think you did alright.
Linden was a funny case - he had his best years in Vancouver, went away for a few years to make the big contracts, and then came back to be the elder statesman when he was affordable again.
Those late 90s/early 00's drafts were easily some of the worst in history so no big loss really. Also remember when the Canadiens traded their 1st round pick for Trevor Linden. That was a good move.
