Mebane is the anchor on our defensive line and he was hurt last year. Jordan Hill was a monster in his short time playing before he got hurt.

McDaniel was a productive and valuable starter, but when healthy Mebane far and away the better player and Hill given his age and potential is the more viable option moving forward.

Losing McDaniel hurts the depth because if Mebane goes down again we don't have a player like McDaniel to step up. But that is the nature of the business.

Seahawks are going to lose depth, aging vets, and young players who want more money. The key is to resign the core players and to hit on the draft to continue to replenish the depth
Ditto to my response to Flyerhawk.

It begins. I told u guys. There goes 1 cut. Many more coming in the next year or so.
Tony McDaniel released by Seattle Seahawks

Seattle Seahawks starting lineup projection - Seattle Seahawks Blog - ESPN 10 Days ago ESPN had McDaniel listed as a bench player! Just sayin'

Rubin, Hill, Marsh, MeBane, Clark......these are the guys that will "replace/rotate/play inside" our "Core Stud" McDaniel. McDaniel would NOT have "started or seen as many snaps last year" if Mebane, Marsh, and Hill had stayed healthy. McDaniel added DEPTH, nice to have huh!, now Seattle has better depth, and could afford to let him go.

Instead of your, I told ya so after the fact BS you employ, here are some FACTS for you to bookmark that MOST of us Hawk fans believe today, right now. Hey fellow fans, let me know if I'm wrong and really off base here.

1) Irvin will most likely be NOT resigned, and we know this. He will be replaced by someone cheaper next season. When Irvin signs somewhere else next year, check back here so you can reference the "we told you this would happen, but you are acting like you are the know-all.

2) Okung is vital, but often hurt, and we believe Seahawk Management will make the right call here. Sure, losing Okung would hurt, but I don't see Seattle paying him 10 Million a year in a 3-4 year deal. We expect Okung to be a casuality, perhaps signing a large FA contract and Seattle getting a nice comp pick in return, Like Maxwell.

3) Mebane. He is not even safe this year. We know it. I have no idea how well he has recovered, but management has a good idea, and they will correctly determine if he needs to "restructure" or be released. Could still happen this year, most likely WILL happen next year.

4) Special Teamers......Ryan and Hauschka. These guys have been great, but if a couple a million is needed elsewhere, it is possible.

There you have it purguy. Please tell me I'm wrong right now.

someone is making stuff up. It shows a sign of weakness.
Seems to me your 49ers are having a much worse turnover problem, yet here you are all happy over the Seahawks losing some journey men.

This idiot doesn't know what an expendable player is because his team is chalk full of them.

This sounds a bit homerism, granted I don't know much about McDaniel, but the link provided did say he was a starter. His release probably hurts more than your letting on.

Fair enough, like I said I don't know much about the guy.

Manster, watch out for millionaire dentists. I hear they like shooting rare breeds, like Cowboys/Red Sox/Celtics fans who have the common sense enough to consider what the posters of a player's team say and reply with logical responses.

purguy, take note.

Im not happy that's the whole point. I was talking to others on here that thought Wilson contract would have after math and I told them it will. U guys would be fine this year but after this year get ready to lose some key players. It started already by losing a starter for you the last 2 years. He is anything special no but he was one of the reasons your D has been nasty the last 2 years. more will drop. You guys committed 100 mill to 10 players. LOL.

Homer Alert. He was a starter the last 2 yeas when your team has had the best D the last 2 years. Trust me it will hurt a little this year for your team. U will lose more.

Its what happens when you sign your QB to a Big contract like that. Cant keep everyone. Trust me we went through the same thing. Just happy we didn't spend as much as you guys and Kaps contract is a team friendly deal.

LOL funniest thing I heard today. Damn I didn't know a QB could be crap with a winning playoff record and a super bowl appearance and 2 NFC championship games. LOL

Haters will hate.

that's like me saying Wilson is crap. Some of these Seattle fans are just bad. They love to hate and be homers.

Are these clowns still trying to make a big deal out of losing McDaniel? Talk about desperate.

Oh please enlighten us with all of the detailed differences between Kaps and Wilson's contracts... What makes kaps so team friendly and Wilson's not so team friendly?

It looks like the Seahawks have you in a pickle. The big news is being able to sign Kam, KJ, Russell, ET, Wags, Sherm, taking care of Marshawn, Ect.
You think we have forgotten about losing Clem, Red, Maxwell, Carp, Giacomini, Tate and a bunch of backups.
Just because you said something that was correct doesn't mean you educated us at all. For 2 years fools like you have been banging that same drum.
Peace, hehe.
Back to back SB appearances coupled with core signings say you be full of it.

Well there's your difference then. There's really no scenario outside catastrophic injury where Seattle would be looking to cut Wilson.

Exactly.

Seattle fans are little bitches

LMFAO that you actually think that Wilson has any chance to be a MLB player. As already stated, he couldn't hit on the single A level which is why he went back to college to play football.

Your only recourse when this is pointed out to you is to call an entire fan base "little bitches"! That is rather pathetic. What are you? 10 years old?

It's a really interesting choice. You pay a QB a HUGE contract, you think they would want a good OL to protect that investment.

They lose Okung moving forward and there literally isn't a OL on that team that projects to even average a year or two down the road. And LT isn't something you typically find in quality later on in the draft. Obviously you can't pay everyone but I would have thought that Okung would have gotten a deal over Wagner. Wagner's a better player but he also plays a position that is a hell of a lot easier to find a decent replacement for.

I'm one Seattle fan who isn't sure at all what they do with Okung. He's injury prone, but as you point out good LT's don't grow on trees.

I think it'll depend on if there's any development at all in some of the kids they drafted this year. Or in who might be available in FA.
