Ballsy move on his part. Hope he doesn't make his injury worse.

I'm assuming this is not on his shooting hand? If it's not on his shooting hand I think he'll be fine.

That would be good news for my fantasy team - I hope he can do it without making his injury worse. Props to him because I think a player should always put his health and safety before the game.

Wow...In a contract year?

Hmmmm...seems like a clear indication that he is surely staying in Rip City.

I hope it doesn't make his injury worse.

But, I understand his thinking.

It would be very dangerous for him to miss that many games in the Wild, Wild West.

They will - that's part of the game, but Kobe did the same thing with a torn ligament in his hand, and he just has to tape it down to the other finger and learn to work with it.

Even if he re-injures it the recovery time for hand injuries usually never linger for more than 2-3 months unless it's really serious. He'll still get a max deal and will be ready in time for next year.

He doesn't want Portland to miss the playoffs. If he was out 6-8 weeks in the West things could've gotten really interesting. Not saying they would've missed the playoffs, but with how OKC,PHX,SAN,etc. are playing ya never know.

Zach Lowe mentioned it on Twitter but he gets a 250k bonus if he's named to the All Star team. Reserves are announced on Thursday so its possible he might be trying to gut it out so he's not left off. He's most certainly an All-Star if he's playing.

For YEARS I've viewed LaMarcus as a soft player, until last season when he finally came into form.....now he does this move. This shows the dude has heart; however, I worry this could make his injury worse and will hurt him down the road..or is injury will hinder his abilities so much thst he should just get the surgery done and start the healing process.

We will see how he does. Portland is absolutely riddled with injuries.

Damn, I'd play through it too for 250k. What if he just plays up until the ASB for the $ then gets surgery after? lol

It's a smart move and shows he's willing to take responsibility for helping the team succeed.

If it's torn all the way through then pain should be minimal, at least according to Kobe. Probably won't be able to feel his finger most nights but it's definitely possible to pay through a torn ligament in your shooting hand.

Damn there's a lot of injuries this year. I don't remember there ever being this many. Tony Wroten is out for the season now as well
