I wish I shared everybody’s optimism. Hopefully, I am surprised by this team but I have us at 6-10, but I don’t really know where the wins come from. We have a bitch of a schedule.

gkekoa, I'm just about in total agreement with you with my prediction of 7-9 but I certainly hope that both of us are wrong. I've seen this same movie too many times in recent years about how good the Redskins are going to be going into the regular season only to get disappointed big time each and every year.

I think our defense can be really good but I do fear the secondary to include our LBs.

I also don’t have much faith in our offense.

Who knows about the record, but I would say the same about the schedule. Things change so much from year to year in the NFL & injuries are such a huge factor that what appears to be a tough schedule may not be & vice versa. Look at last season - teams like the Raiders & Broncos were considered very tough at the beginning of the season, but they turned out to be horrible. Likewise teams like the Saints & Rams were considered to be relatively easy opponents yet turned into playoff teams.

There really is no way to predict how tough a team will be especially later in the season. Even the SB champ Eagles could turn out to be very beatable w/ a few key injuries. Should be fun to watch this unfold.

VT, I sure hope you are right because I would love to be wrong with my 7-9 prediction.

By the way, Roanoke, Virginia has always been one of my favorite places to visit.
Why Roanoke?

Yep, and so does every other team in the NFL on Sunday's (Schedule). If you think this team takes a step back this season with 6 wins (highly unlikely) then, BA, JG and a long line of employee's will likely be escorted out of Ashburn I would think and deservedly so.

Look, this team will make mistakes, frustrate the crap out of fans and at times, we may very well look bad on either side of the ball. At the end of the day, the team has improved in many areas on both sides of the ball and I believe, you will see WINS COME FROM spectacular play from both sides of the ball. If we have improved even just slightly, the team will eclipse 6 wins without much trouble.

i think our defense will be improved to at least middle of the pack and that should push us into a situation that means CDC doesnt have to carry us .

we should get 10 wins if healthy

and ANYBODY can predict records . this notion that they cant because of health and how good teams will or wont be is simply a dodge .

whether you are right is more like it .

so when someone asks for a prediction then make the damn thing . yeah any moron knows things change but making predictions is more of a gage on how people feel about things

i dont know why its so damn hard to grab your nuts and trust what you feel

Why Roanoke?

I thought you would never ask! During my traveling days on business when I was single I covered all of NC and VA and for some reason which I cannot explain Roanoke was always a hot spot for me when it came to meeting women who liked to have fun. I always stayed at the Sheraton which might not even exist anymore but they had a nice nightclub with a live band during my time there. Oh what memories!

This is tough... There are zero superbowl aspirations with Alex Smith now or in the future, HOWEVER I could see them going 10-6 based on the talent on defense.

I honestly think this team has a 4-12 to 10-6 range. I wouldnt be surprised by any win total within that range.

If I'm going to put my money where my mouth is I am going to predict 6-10
-There will be no run game
-The defense will be good but it will wear down because the offense cant stay on the field
-Not a believer in Josh Doctson
-The way Gruden runs his offseason will result in another injury plagued season
-Alex Smith will quickly find out that he does not have the luxury of Hill, Hunt, Kelce, and Andy Reid and he may struggle in comparison to 2017 but in reality just match what his typical season has been throughout his career (19 tds 8 ints)

I expect BA to be gone and very possibly JG.

I agree we have improved on the defensive line but have thoroughly regressed in the secondary. I can’t find a single area on the offensive side where we have surely improved. I do expect more from our receivers this season, if given the opportunity.

I expect the offense will hold us back tremendously this season.

I could have guessed you would have said the "offense" would hold us back this season. Let's see where we improved in the off season:
QB = yes
RB = yes
OL = yes
WR = yes
I expect the offense to provide an uptick this season.

QB, RB, OL are improvements? What?

Paul Richardson is an improvement as a WR2/3 but it wont matter if Doctson still sucks ass

Absolutely PR is an improvement over Pryor. Doctson is a freak athlete who will ball out this year. Get a clue.

"get a clue" lol

I agreed that WR on paper is improved but it wont mean they will be effective..... sure doctson can jump real high but it doesnt matter if he lacks speed and precision to create any separation

Also will alex smith have the arm strength to drive the ball on those intermediate routes where Cousins excelled? I dont think so.... Crowder and Thompson should benefit however

OL is most definitely improved unless they have a rash of injuries (in which case they are doomed). You can't just look at a list of players at the start of each season. The Redskins didn't have the benefit of having most of those players on the field for most of last season. In addition the OL operates as a unit & if you are constantly changing the combinations (the Skins did to almost record levels last season) then it will be a disaster. If they can stay healthy & have roughly the same unit on the field this season that will be a huge advantage.

Oline is improved in sense that it is healthier and we added Christian as a deep swing tackle

Cohesion hasnt improved bc there really wasnt any last year with all the injuries.

TWill and S.L. are a year older however Roullier, Moses, Scherff are a year more seasoned.

1 of the best olines in NFL when healthy and that will be the key. We will see.

So what you are saying is you got a little hay for your donkey in Roanoke. :thumb:

My mother and her family were all born in Roanoke. It is a very nice little city. Family was from Bedford County not far from Smith Mountain Lake but of course a lot of that was before there was a lake.

QB = yes --- at best a push but I think we went down a step here
RB = yes --- unchanged unless we got the 25 year old AP, CT and Kelley are coming off of injury. they could be worse
OL = yes ---- same except for healthy at the moment so I agree …. better with health
WR = yes --- I am assuming you said yes due to Richardson because everything else is unchanged, I'll take the wait and see approach

There are more than a few that think we will be better on D and a little worse on O
