I remember watching a highlight from I think the 2001 NFC playoffs where a Rams safety hit a Saints receiver trying to go over the middle.

Saints guy was laying on his back twitching uncontrollably after the hit.

Oh no Tom Brady had a season-ending injury. Let's make up a special rule so that doesn't happen again.

Montana was better than Brady. Sorry.

Same for Reid and Mahomes?? Reid couldn't locate the toilet paper roller without Mahoimes.
Admit it, Reid was an annual loser. Now he being talked aboutas a 'great' coach. GMAFB.
Im not sure why you volunteered this argument when Reid has playoff success with Alex Smith and McNabb.

We will see how Mahomes does without Reid here in time.2-8 years from now Im guessing. Thats a totally different set of questions as the Chiefs will have to choose between loyalty and basically getting their choice of any coach they want.

edit-didnt realize how young Reid was

Andy Reid was making NFCCG's with McNabb and making the playoffs annually with Alex Smith.

You gonna tell me having a HOF QB doesn't matter? Reid was a HOF level coach who only had a narrative road-bump stopping him from entering the HOF prior to Mahomes.
Reid was a loser(and a pretty prolific loser, at that). But Mahomes bailed him out. Now Reid is a Hall Of Famer.

Not even Joe Montana believes that’s true. But it’s also harder and harder to compare eras. Montana played in an era when there was actual defense being played and QB’s were allowed to get hit. Montana was certainly the best of HIS era, but his career is nowhere near as accomplished as Brady’s. Nobody’s is.

I really can't believe people still think Montana is the GOAT. His one big sticking point was rings and postseason success and Brady has him beat there; not to mention Brady's considerable skill/longevity. Plenty of other QB's have him beat in the pure skill category like Marino in his own era.

Montana had outstanding team and HC, people forget about that.

A snarky person could say the same of Belichick, which would also be a stupid argument.
Not really, though. Belichick didn’t have much of a head coaching resume when he got the job in NE. Reid had a looooong and largely mediocre career prior to going to KC.

The one consistent thing about the NFL is when you put a HOF QB on a great team that sustains, it usually ends up in a lot of rings.
You're 100% right on and Proof is in the pudding 9 SBs and 6 Lombardi's for NE and Defending SB champ in KC

I took out Brady and Mahomes out of the equation

BB 61-71 record 1 playoff in 8 seasons .12%
AR 183-122 13 playoffs in 19 seasons 68%

Reid was 130-93 with 10 playoff wins in 14 years, 3 NFFC appearances as well as a Super bowl. Nobody would consider that "mediocre".

A mediocre resume of what?

130-97 record, 6 division titles, 9 playoff appearances, and a 10-9 playoff record with 5 NFCCG appearances and a SB appearance through 14 seasons is not in any universe "mediocre" unless your name is Bill Belichick. At the worst, you could say he'd need to do more work to make the HOF because of the CCG losses and no ring, but mediocre? No.

Now fast forward to the end of through the 2017 season through 19 seasons:

183-124 8 division titles, 13 playoff appearances, 11-13 playoff record (1-4 with Smith), 5 NFCCG appearances and a SB appearance through 19 seasons.

At this point, the only what if is if what Reid is able to do with a HOF QB many other HOF coaches enjoyed:

So let's do Mahomes as a full time starter, conveniently playing like an inner circle HOF'er to make this case study clear through 3 seasons:

38-10

3 division titles; 3/3

3/3 reaching the AFCCG

2/3 reaching the SB

1-2/3 winning the SB.

6-1 postseason record

Pretty clear Reid passes the what if he had a HOF QB test now if any residual doubt remained about him.

By this time now, Andy Reid is 5th in all time wins at 238 behind only Shula (347), Halas (324), Belichick (311), and Landry (270) with a .623 winning percentage tied with Curly Lambeau. Jeff Fisher Andy is not...
