Bosh is unreliable. Dragic is overpaid. Wade is in clear decline. Whiteside isn't a max deal guy to me. Winslow is an amazing you talent. A Kwhahi Leonard in the making. Keep him. Start over.

riley is 70- no way he tries to rebuild...he will try and max it out for another year or two somehow, and ride off into the sunset with someone else holding the bag

If they can somehow lure Durant and another FA... and get out of a few of these contracts through trades or whatever... I can see something working. But short of landing a Durant/Westbrook combo, this team is looking old, slow, and is a walking mash unit.

The problem is the Bosh cap space for next season.
There's just nothing Riley can do until 1 year from retirement, if Bosh can't play.
We'd be pretty flush in '17 the way I see it, IF Bosh retires.

Wade's still very productive. Problem is, he's no longer your 1st option, until now. And given the load he's had to carry this won't turn out well. Bosh may never play again. If/when that announcement comes we're screwed for next season as his money doesn't come off the books for a year. I love Riley, but he hasn't made many great decisions the last few years. Also, we'll be operating at a $23-$25 million handicap going into the offseason. Sorry, Miami's a great city, but that's not going to get Durant here. Durant wants a team that has promise and championship aspirations. And I don't think Whiteside is anywhere near a max player either.

Since Riley came to Miami in the mid 90s, Miami has been an elite franchise, almost always in the playoffs, 3 titles,5 NBA finals and 7 ECFs. Miami has been the best team in the East over that period. Only the Lakers and Spurs can claim better in the NBA. I would love Riley around for a rebuild.. but as was said he turns 71 next month, if he doesnt want to stay around for it, then he certainly has earned the right to step aside. I just don't think Riley has it in him to do that. Not yet anyway.

He's definitely made a few good moves ... Shaq, Whiteside, ... some key FA signings. (#23, Bosh, Ray)

But I thought he could have done better filling in the spots around their Big 3. I think Cavs have done a better job in the last year adding depth and pieces which fit together.

But -- obviously the Heat won twice so it is hard to argue with final results. (and Cavs may not win it even with these moves) I just found it painful to watch Anthony & Chalmers start ... Birdman, Haslem, Coles, Lewis, ...

Hard to say what Miami should do. Talent is still there but they appear to me in the 2nd tier of the teams in the East.

Miami had 2 titles and four straight NBA finals from the pieces Riley put around the big 3. You think the Cavs have done better? Hmmm.

I'm glad you feel this way. Makes those two upcoming first rounders from you guys sound a lot better. Thanks, Goran.

Those two first rounders are in 2017,18, 0r 19.. and then in 2021. The 1st rounder in 2017/18 is a protected pick that would have to be given in 2019 if Miami didnt have it over before. I believe Riley can rebuild this thing in 3 years.. definitely 5.

2017&2018 top 7 protected, 2019/2021 unprotected.

Either way we end up with two extra 1st rounders. I'll take it.

No.. you were losing Dragic regardless. The deal made total sense for Phoenix. Looking back on it, it looks like Phoenix got the better end of that deal.. but it does matter at what spot those picks are in the draft. Not that I dont like Dragic, I just think Miami over paid him with that 90 million dollar contract.

Yep, I was surprised to get two 1st rounders for him honestly. He wasn't re-signing either way so it was a great deal for us. I'll never count Pat Riley out of rebuilding his team into a contender FAST though so I'm not overly optimistic. I just hope at least one of those picks ends up being in the lotto. That'd be a win.

I'm a Celtics fan & I'm not from Cleveland. So the Cavs aren't my team & Cleveland isn't my city.
