Thinking about making this a regular series and I'm starting with this one.....

The pick in 2008:

Michael Beasley.

Yes, I know he has a cult following on here but looking back it wasn't a great pick as he has been the definition of a career journeyman.

The right pick: Kevin Love.

Wade and Love would have worked seamlessly as both are team players and Love would have been a fantastic #2 option to Wade.....a big man that can rebound and shoot the 3.

But, if this were the pick the big 3 may never have happened......Bosh wouldn't have signed up. And if he did would he have wanted to play C?

Would LeBron James have signed up to play with the Heat, Wade, and Love?

I think the Heat should have taken Love with the #2 pick.

I could do this allll day with the Warriors. Only exempt years in the last 30 years were 94, 2001, 2009, 2011 and 2012

I don’t think 93 pick was bad. The coach/player dynamic was.

good thing the magic squandered all those picks anyway lol

I have a soft spot for Miami's 2008 draft because they got Chalmers in round 2; to start a rookie point guard 82 games and finish with a winning record is something.

Fred van vleet.

There is a pretty clear trend of talent evaluators to discount super productive, but athletically unassuming 4 year guards who don’t stand out athletically.

Guys like Van Vleet and Brogdon tend to fall a lot further than they should because unproven 19 year olds have higher ceilings.

I don’t know about Pritchard, but these high basketball IQ types are more likely to be quality NBA players than scouts give them credit for. Smarts and toughness count for a lot.

Plus shooting.

this year with Pritchard and Flynn going round 1 teams seem to be catching on

Maybe a little.

I still think these types of prospects are going to get overlooked to a degree.

An opportunity for contending teams to nab some ready to play contributors

Couldn't we do this for pretty much every team?

I think a more interesting conversation would be which teams HAVEN'T made big mistakes in their drafts over the last 15 years.
