Yet everyone on your list is far more athletic than Edey

And, yes, people made foolish pick throughout the draft. Did any of those guys live up to their draft billing/ezpectations?

Surprised you didn’t put Anthony Bennet on your list.

Edey is Mark Eaton. But Mark was okay because the theee point line wasn’t used and the idea of a stretch big was someone who could hit an eight footer.

Was Yao really that much more athletic?

I don’t think so.

I believe Edey would have been a projected starter in the 90s/early 2000s.

Game has changed a ton.

I put big 5s who weren’t obvious athletic freaks like Dwight. Bennett wasn’t that.

I don’t disagree. He may even start today. But I doubt he will be an impact player. I wouldn’t want my lowly Pistons to use a pick on him though I’m not too high on Duren.

All this talk about mid centers has me feeling nostalgic.

Do you guys remember one of my favorite players of all time, Big Country?

I loved watching that kid ball.

He didn’t look like he belonged anywhere near a basketball court.

The 30 for 30 on him was great. I know a cousin of his pretty well, sounds like he is just a laid back dude.

Oh, he is a Oklahoma kid, huh?

I forgot about that.

I remember how he embraced Vancouver at a time when Stevie Franchise pissed all over the Organization.

Good Dude and a fun player to watch.

Lmao. Detroit was hot garbage all year long, Best odds in the draft. Ends up 5th. That's brutal. At least it wasn't the Wemby draft where you have a clear cut franchise guy. If it was, those execs would be suicidal.

Been thinking for awhile we were due for a big jump and we got it this year with Atlanta (and Houston via Brooklyn). Flattening the odds was gonna payoff at some point

It did but at least the other teams had the same odds. Spurs had 14% chance just like them so when they win, you're mad but its like what do you do. But when a team with a 3% chance wins and then another lower team jumps you too? That's when you break stuff

NBA draft isn't really about winning the top pick anymore.

It used to big fools who can actually play the game and will be obviously dominant like Shaq, Ewing, and David Robinson. The game isn't like that anymore.

It's more about perimeter and defense and chemistry and you can't tell you will be that good or will play well together.

The exception is LeBron of course.

It's more like the NFL draft these days. Try and put young pieces together, try and build chemistry, guys who want to stay with the team.

Meh it depends on the draft. Last year it was absolutely about the top pick, Wemby. Some years like this year there will be no consensus top pick but it’s been like that forever.
