The Q
Hoop’s Villain, Reality’s Hero
The players aren’t a party to the tv dealWithout the TV deal, those arenas aren't worth nearly as much.
They are a beneficiary like other employees

No. The platforms are owned
And the owners of those platforms allow the players to use their right to free speech.
Also, why does no one ever complain about players using those platforms to say things they agree with?
They hiJack it for nonsense people don’t pay to see
Pretty simple
They aren't hijacking anything. The league/teams could put a stop to it if they chose to,
They just don't choose to.
I get it though, if a player says something you disagree with, you want them to just shut up and dribble.
Otherwise, they're a douche.
Most players, throughout the '80's and '90's were publicly neutral politically. They were trying to grow the NBA from basically a barnstorming league to national and international prominence. It would have been stupid to risk alienating potential fans. It's why you never heard Magic or Bird talk about politics and MJ famously said "Republicans buy shoes too".
Heck, Kareem never enjoyed the level of popularity that he should have given his stature in the game because he was fairly outspoken about his politics.
I'm betting that the majority of the actors, actresses, musicians and athletes that I enjoy being entertained by have political ideologies that are very different from mine...that doesn't stop me from enjoying their work.
Brooks and Green are literally in an argument on who is the bigger douche, and it is a badge of honor for them. Take your pick between them
Only problem is one of them is:
DPOY
4x AS
2x All NBA
7x All NBA Defense
4x Champion
2x Olympic Gold Medalist
The other isn't even worthy of listing on an All Star ballot.

Way too short of a list: James Harden, Pat Beverly, etcSelf explanatory.
Vote AND DISCUSS.
Fair point. I had already voted Brooks by the way. Just was curious on your take on why.You even play in pick up games where you have a guy talking trash? One scenario, this guy is killing it and also letting you know that you can't guard him. Then you have a player who's absolutely trash, not doing anything, and yet he's yapping away. Which one is more annoying?
When do they not use their own social media accounts? They don't post on the team accounts. Draymond has his own podcast. LeBron has his own TV show. They aren't 'using' anything other than their fame. Which they earned.Possibly for sure
If a player wants to use their own social media accounts or whatever
That’s fine
Using someone else’s platform (team, nba etc) when that’s not what people are paying for?
Super douchey imo
