Without the TV deal, those arenas aren't worth nearly as much.
The players aren’t a party to the tv deal

They are a beneficiary like other employees

No. The platforms are owned

And the owners of those platforms allow the players to use their right to free speech.

Also, why does no one ever complain about players using those platforms to say things they agree with?

They aren't hijacking anything. The league/teams could put a stop to it if they chose to,

They just don't choose to.

I get it though, if a player says something you disagree with, you want them to just shut up and dribble.

Otherwise, they're a douche.

Giving it to Brooks since he's not as good a basketball player as Grayson Allen

Kyrie is kind of a no brainer but I don't know if douche is a good label for him.

Most players, throughout the '80's and '90's were publicly neutral politically. They were trying to grow the NBA from basically a barnstorming league to national and international prominence. It would have been stupid to risk alienating potential fans. It's why you never heard Magic or Bird talk about politics and MJ famously said "Republicans buy shoes too".

Heck, Kareem never enjoyed the level of popularity that he should have given his stature in the game because he was fairly outspoken about his politics.

I'm betting that the majority of the actors, actresses, musicians and athletes that I enjoy being entertained by have political ideologies that are very different from mine...that doesn't stop me from enjoying their work.

A big reason a lot of people also go with Jordan over Lebron is because he's never taken any sort of political stand at all. Like you said he along with many other athletes remained politically neutral. Jordan is famous for saying "republicans buy sneakers too".

So it gives people more reason to hate on Lebron because they don't agree with his politics. But Lebron is far from a douche.

Brooks and Green are literally in an argument on who is the bigger douche, and it is a badge of honor for them. Take your pick between them

Only problem is one of them is:

DPOY
4x AS
2x All NBA
7x All NBA Defense
4x Champion
2x Olympic Gold Medalist

The other isn't even worthy of listing on an All Star ballot.

Draymond's getting into the HOF after his playing days are over. Only way Brooks gets in is if he buys a ticket.

This has turned into a big douche thread.

Can’t criticize Lebron because you love MJ. Lol

He is still the face of the NBA and has definitely pulled some douche moves for sure. Yes he’s also done a lot of good off the court.

Threatening MJ for the GOAT. Now That is hilarious

I was not aware that talent weighed in on level of douche.

You even play in pick up games where you have a guy talking trash? One scenario, this guy is killing it and also letting you know that you can't guard him. Then you have a player who's absolutely trash, not doing anything, and yet he's yapping away. Which one is more annoying?

Fair point. I had already voted Brooks by the way. Just was curious on your take on why.

Possibly for sure

If a player wants to use their own social media accounts or whatever

That’s fine

Using someone else’s platform (team, nba etc) when that’s not what people are paying for?

Super douchey imo
When do they not use their own social media accounts? They don't post on the team accounts. Draymond has his own podcast. LeBron has his own TV show. They aren't 'using' anything other than their fame. Which they earned.

Larry Bird vs Dillon Brooks

Memphis whooped the Warriors last night and good for them...Brooks was 0-6 from 3 then hit one and acted like MJ after shooting over Craig Ehlo
