Is that a new rule? because last I checked Alabama, Miss, Tenn all have 2 schools in them in the SEC

Those are schools that got in decades ago.(1932) Since the 1930"s the SEC has shown they don't want multiple schools in the same state.

If the SEC wanted multiple schools from the same state FSU would have gotten an invite a long time ago.

The 2 per state thing is newer because of the conference network and how the pricing is done. You've mostly been right so far, but that little detail is off.

Florida St was invited back in the Bowden years, but FSU turned it down because of how difficult the SEC was.

Bobby Bowden says FSU didn’t join the SEC because it’s too difficult of a conference

Bobby Bowden: Florida State wouldn't have won national title in SEC

Only teams I personally would add to the SEC would be Oklahoma and VaTech (or UVA)...

I wouldn't mind WVU either, but they've already been voted down so that's not going to happen.

It is a relatively new guideline. A lot of the doubled states have been there for decades.
For the right school, they might be willing to break the guideline.

But, Georgia and Florida would throw a gigantic fit and cause a lot of infighting regardless.
The Bulldogs and Gators are adamantly against violating the guideline.

Houston certainly is not worth the efforts to cause a civil war in the league.

I don't remember seeing Appalachian State on the score card but after last night maybe they should make a phone call to the Big XII.

From a sports only standpoint BYU makes the most sense. They are competitive in Football and Basketball, they have a 64,000 stadium that sells out every game, and they have a national following.

From a baggage/perception standpoint........:nono:
Plus, no one wants to commit to playing those dirty dick pinchers every year.

Outside of BYU and maybe Cincinatti and Houston, these programs all suck a fat dick. I'm sorry but at some point on the field performance has to count for something, especially for a league that is at risk of watering it's self down and crumbling apart.

look at houston again over more than the last 2 seasons.
but if it was just about W and L then they would go for Boise and Northern Illinois who have been 2 of the winningest Non power 5 teams for years

Not saying UConn is great but they've been D1 less than 15 years and already made a BCS bowl and made multiple bowl games.

They're not perfect.

Yes they're just coming out of an embarrassingly bad valley.

But voting because of just how the team is for 2016 is bad business as well.

And lets not forget that CBB conferences get some nice TV deals as well.
