Death On Black Wings
Kinda funny how what the actual School and Program does is meaningless....
Just out of curiosity, how does Rutgers bring in the NY/NJ market? Even when they had their little run their TV ratings were still dog shit and still seemed like 8th banana to all basketball schools. Was it just cause a ton of B1G alums work in NY or something?

And if market is such a huge issue then why in the world is Okie State even being mentioned with OU coming to the Pac? There is nothing desirable at all about them except as an olive branch for OU which is the carrot for Texas.
It's the TV contract the Big has that says number of TV's in the state of any team in the Big.
But wasn't the B1G network already in the NY/NJ area? It doesn't really make sense to me that they'd need Rutgers to pull in a market they essentially already have for football. The SEC doesn't need Tulane nor the Big 12 needs Houston to pull those TV markets. Maryland, ok but Rutgers just seemed like another mouth to feed at the table. At least Boise is competitive at for profit sports and, at least had, a solid wrestling program which seems to be a big thing in the Midwest.
It is a matter of taking New Jersey and New York from being out of market to in market with th cable companies. It takes each of the consumers and changes the cost from 0.44 for being out of market to 1.00 being in market. So how many people live in New York and New Jersey have a cable or dish plan and more than double the income from each of them. It doesn't matter if people actually watch the BTN, if they have it, they are paying double for it.But wasn't the B1G network already in the NY/NJ area?
