Paying him $12M for 2015 was bad business.
Paying him $9M for 2016 would be bad business.

Seahawks bringing back RB Bryce Brown, adding depth with Marshawn Lynch's situation uncertain

The Seattle Seahawks are re-signing running back Bryce Brown to their 53-man roster, adding depth at the spot with Marshawn Lynch’s injury situation remaining uncertain.

The move was first reported by Mike Garafolo of FoxSports and since confirmed to the Times.

Brown was on the Seattle roster for the Dallas and Arizona games but did not play, initially added to add depth when Thomas Rawls suffered a calf injury against the 49ers on Oct. 22.

Seattle had released Brown on Saturday to make room for LB Eric Pinkins on the 53-man roster.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday morning that the belief is Lynch's abdomen injury is a sports hernia. Lynch met with noted specialist Dr. William Meyers in Philadelphia on Monday.

If Meyers confirms Lynch has a hernia, as expected, surgery could come as early as Tuesday and Beast Mode could miss the rest of the regular season, Rapoport reported, per a source informed of the injury. Carroll said there's a "possibility" Lynch could undergo surgery while meeting with the specialist. In addition, Carroll indicated to reporters Monday that Lynch would not play against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll sounded confident last Friday that Lynch would play Sunday versus the San Francisco 49ers. Alas, the running back surprisingly sat out the win.

Carroll said the trip to see Meyers was in the works even before Lynch sat Sunday.

"He tried (to play)," Carroll said after Sunday's win. "We rested him all week and we rehabbed him all week long. Really the first time we took a real look at was out here in pregame, and he just couldn't get going."

Seahawks fans are likely a little less worried Monday about the prospect of losing their workhorse after watching rookie Thomas Rawls wreck the 49ers in an epic ground game.

It wasn't just the running style of Lynch that I liked.

I loved his complete disdain for the press.

Rawls may run n a similar fashion but he won't have the character of Lynch.
Marshawn owned the press. The press thought it was the other way around.

He should be done. If Seattle is smart they will release him (or trade if they can get lucky) and save $6M next year and put that towards more key players like Bruce Irvin, extending Bennett/Avril or signing some DT/O-Line depth.

I hate to say it, but the cut throat attitude of organizations like the Pats is what keeps them relevant. They know when to release players and it's time to release Lynch. This is Shaun Alexander all over again. Releasing Lynch would help keep my faith for the front office.

Just a side thought... Why does it take some "specialist" on the other side of the country to diagnose a sports hernia? There are doctors everywhere, and every team has a doctor with access to Xrays, MRI, Cat scans, etc.

It seems like a simple thing to diagnose, especially when they knew about the injury for a week and tried to see if he could play through it. Take an hour Tuesday and diagnose the hernia, don't risk causing more injury trying to play, then decide he has to fly to the East Coast.
