Oh I dunno bout that. I think it would still have been an issue once the BIG started touting those new tv deal figures. The Big12, PAC, and ACC all have to figure out how to try n at least stay close financially.

Texas isn't going anywhere til the GOR is up but the point is valid, why should Texas take a paycut that steep (ESPN waaay overpaid and that's not Texas' fault) when the Big12 can wait and form its own network when the LHN deal is up, LHN goes away (no way that gets renewed) AND after cultivating potential new tv markets after an expansion.saw something come out in the last couple days, saying if Texas is going to drop LHN, it would only be if they were to join another conference.

but it also might say, that it's not going to give it up just to placate the current group in the conference that want them to do just that; just a quiet 'no way in hell, so quit bringing it up' statement to Boren and his group.
Here's another slant that made me go hmmmmm.....................I think that's exactly what that is and I wouldn't give it up either unless I got compensated for it. Now, if ESPN or another network wants to cover it or if say a gozillionare in Memphis that happens to be the king of FedEx, and his buddy Justin Timberlake really really really want Memphis to be in the Big12 and a group in Cincinnati OH wants to compensate Texas so we can get a conference network then.....

Big 12 should push to expand the playoff, not its conference

The OKLAHOMA plan is so transparent and almost cruelly Machiavellian to the other 8 schools.
I cannot believe those idiots are falling for it.
WVU and Kansas might survive, but the other 6 are screwed forever if OU keeps this plan in place.
OU knows damn well Texas is not accepting this ridiculous proposal....no fucking school on earth would either.
All the Sooners have to do is push Texas hard enough, so Texas decides it isn't worth the grief and leaves.
Then OKLAHOMA believes that elusive PAC-12 bid will finally come as a Texas/OU package deal.
The most devious part of it all is that OKLAHOMA has made OKIE JR the mouthpiece to start it all.
They get OSU to complain, Texas to leave, and they get to benefit while OSU or Texas takes the PR hit.
Okie Jr is the perfect patsy for them. They have had a couple years of success and are feeling their oats.
The Sooners whisper in their ears and use them for gain before tossing them aside.
I actually admire Oklahoma. This plan is basically flawless in execution and a win-win for them.

that is the original idea. This is one of my favorite lines
"There can’t be one fan in the Big 12 wishing his or her team could play Cincinnati more but Texas less."
I am guessing you could say the same and substitute SEC East fans, Mizzu, and Bama. That goes for the Big 10 and Pac also.
LOL look at Horns ducking the PAC and looking for the easiest path to the playoff. Texas playing in the B1G would be miserable and would hurt your recruiting. Join the B1G and you hand deliver the Texas recruits to the SEC.I hope Oklahoma does get their ultimate wish and Texas quits over this issue.
Because Texas might just decide the BIG 10 is a better fit.
The Big 10 will also make an extremely lucrative offer.
Conventional Wisdom suggest Texas would pick the PAC-12 first.
But, if the two Oklahoma schools keep being dicks about this issue.
Texas might just go the Big 10 instead where OU is not welcome.
And then Oklahoma never gets into the PAC-12 as its dream destination.
Relax Oklahoma, Texas and Oklahoma will amicably join the PAC-12 soon enough.
There is no need to use insults and needless stupidity to try and make it happen immediately.
Maybe because Boren is 75 years old and wants this PAC-12 thing as his crowning legacy??
Maybe he just cannot wait another 7 years when he looks at his birth certificate.

Interesting take. I see Oklahoma is now the bad guy. I just cannot believe how evil Oklahoma has been over the years.
Texas recruits predominantly Texas players.
All schools recruit local talent.
Even the absolute best recruiting schools still get the bulk of their guys from within a 300 mile radius tops.
Recruiting is just like real estate.....location, location, location.
Texas is fortunately dead smack in the middle of fertile recruiting grounds.
And there is enough for 15-20 schools in the state of Texas. The Horns will always have a chunk of them.
Texas will be able to recruit whether it is in the Big 12, PAC 12, Big 10, ACC, or SEC.
Moving to a new league doesn't suddenly mean the University of Texas relocates its campus..
Just say "So I assume you'll tell the Packers 'No, thanks!' if they draft you."Don't kid yourself. Your recruiting would definitely suffer because too many kids in Texas have the same mental image when they think of the B1G in November and December:
