Has the Big12 thought of getting Colorado?
I agree with the exceptions of basketball and baseball. In the SEC both have conference championship tournaments that are big draws and money makers. Everything else you can throw in one big pot and just do regional play.I find that so stupid. One day ADs will realize that non-revenue sports do not need to be part off revenue spor conferences. Just set up regional conferences for smaller sports. The 2 have basically become different animals.
Very true. The two animals are now revenue producing and revenue consuming sports. Only a few could be neutral. The decision for schools is which revenue consumers to keep. Example: I think I saw where only 6 Big 12 schools play softball.I find that so stupid. One day ADs will realize that non-revenue sports do not need to be part off revenue spor conferences. Just set up regional conferences for smaller sports. The 2 have basically become different animals.

It's even dumber than that as we know right now the Big 12 has a 50% shot with one loss most years and there is no other way to quantify any other numbers. If the Big 12 expanded it could be argued that OU's chances of making the playoffs actually decrease. It's just not a viable argument. This is one of the dumber things I have seen. Boren is out touting this dumbass report
"The numbers run by Chicago-based Navigate Research show the Big 12 has a 4-5 percent better chance of reaching the top four in the CFP by adding two teams"
So even if your "numbers" are correct, you are telling me that adding 2 teams to the Big 12 will result in 1 additional Playoff appearance over 20 years? I think I will say no thank you and keep revenue exactly where it is currently
What does ND get from the ACC? I believe they get $15M from NBC, which is less than the tier 1 rights in the B1G with the new deal.
Edit: They get nothing from football:
Answering some FAQs about ACC’s addition of Notre Dame |
Why?They need to get over their butthurt of not being invited in how many decades ago it was. Membership has it's privileges and at this point I think they need conference affiliation.
I thought ND was contractually obligated to join the ACC as a full member if they ever decided to join a conference? In the meantime....... a few hours ago.....
......per FOX Sports' Tim Brando.....
.....Notre Dame is supposedly contemplating the idea of either full ACC membership or full B1G membership... whichever brings them more money.
FOX Sports’ Tim Brando Thinks Conference Realignment Could Be On The Horizon, Notre Dame A Key Piece
With NBC/Comcast currently in negotiations with the B1G..... the possibility of re-structuring the NBC-Notre Dame deal with full B1G membership sounds intriguing, and might be much more $$$ than the upcoming ACC-ESPN potential network deal.

No kidding. I believe they are 1 of the 30 that are truly operating in the black. Why?
Last time I checked, Notre Dame isn't exactly going broke . . .

I get it. I'm just tired of college athletics being driven by NOTHING BUT MONEY! Might as well be the pro sports. The money they make now is PEANUTS compared to what they would in the B1G.
Seriously, if you don't get that, I don't know what to tell you.
Fill your athletic department with monks that have taken a vow poverty, don't do kickbacks and are incredibly frugal and those dimes streatch into dollars quickly. No kidding. I believe they are 1 of the 30 that are truly operating in the black.

It was tOSU's performance in the 13th game that kept Baylor/TCU out so Briles is only partially correct. Had both tOSU and Wisky play shitty or tOSU won ugly, Baylor or TCU may well have gotten in.
