b10 rivals

im trying to work out my new scheduling idea which calls for each b10 school to have two main rivals. im just wondering what the thoughts are for this setup

i tried to pair em up as best i could and i wanna make sure i get it right as well as suggestions for if i want to make a 3rd rival for each school

Wisconsin is not rivals with Northwestern. They are more of rivals with Iowa, MSU, or OSU.

FYI, most would consider Michigan and Minnesota a rival - despite the lopsided nature of the series. It IS the oldest trophy game in CFB.

im running into a problem with "rivalry week" where each school plays its number 1 rival in the same week. iowa & MSU dont have a true #1 rival in this setup and they cant play the last week which means im gonna have to switch to 3 main rivals per school

Wisconsin, the battle for the real Big Red.
Iowa, next door neighbor.

The B1G has already dropped the cross division rivalry game, so Penn State is out.

I think Illinois and Iowa consider each other rivals. I could be wrong on that one though.

Since you have Michigan, Michigan State, and Ohio State as a threesome you might as well put Penn State, Maryland, and Rutgers as a threesome. Poor Indiana is stuck playing the teams in the Western Division. Don't worry Indiana, as soon as the next two teams are announced, Indiana will be traded to the Western Division.

im trying to set up a schedule that has conferences play without divisions. the purpose of it is to eliminate conference dodging and unbalanced divisions. each b10 team gets 3 fixed rivals and the remaining 6 slots get played round robin style over a 2 year cylce meaning no team dodges another 2 straight years and guarantees each fan the opportunity to see every big10 team play at their school during their 4 year college career.

the ccg gets decided by the two highest in the BCS.

the reason why i want Neb & psu together is because having the 3rd & 4th strongest b10 programs play each other seems like a no brainer. plus both schools could use a strong #1 rival

Debatable:

It (Mich vs. Minn) is one of the oldest rivalries, in American college football, dating to 1892; while some historians and the NCAA state that the oldest rivalry with a trophy is between what is now Arizona and Arizona State, the Territorial Cup did not start changing hands until 2001, as it was a one-time award after their first series in 1899.

So the little brown jug is the oldest trophy to have exchanged hands since the existence of the rivalry. Clearly the territorial cup thing started just because they needed some gimmick to revive the rivalry. It would be like Michigan finding some random thing given to the team from the 1800's and then all of a sudden, because we want some claim to fame, revive it and call it the oldest trophy. I'm sorry, but no trophy game compares to the brown jug nor are there any legit older ones.
