Husker opponent summer checkup: South Alabama
From Mobile, Alabama right on the Gulf of Mexico
Players to Watch: Defensive Lineman Tyree Turner
The building project for second-year head coach Steve Campbell, is still in the process of just locating the parts. South Alabama labored through a 3-9 season in 2018, and statistically was just as bad or worse than that record shows. The Jaguars gave up at least 48 points in five of their 12 games, including a 55-13 loss in their only meeting against a power-five team, Oklahoma State.
One of the biggest areas the Jaguars need a makeover on is their pass defense. When teams attempted a pass against them last year, they averaged 9.2 yards. Only four teams in all of the FBS were worse than that, with Sun Belt opponents doing most of that damage. Opponents also completed 64.7 percent of their passes, which ranked South Alabama 120th in that stat. As it always with football, there is shared blame to be found. The Jaguars didn't get much pressure, claiming 20 sacks all year (106th nationally), and gave up 14 plays of more than 50 yards a season ago (124th) thanks in big part to breakdowns defending the pass.

Expect Yo Adrian to have a good day, as long as the O line can block.
Is the Nebraska Starting Center now Hunter Miller? Now the 6-foot-4, 325-pound lineman from Stromsburg, Nebraska. He BLEEDS Husker football.
NEBRASKA WINS THIS GAME EASILY
Not sure if Nebraska covers, @Red_Alert posted the spread was -32 or so. That is a lot of points to be favored by on a team that went 4-8 last year and gave up quite a few points in the process.
