NEW YORK -- And now how about some runs for Matt Harvey?

The Dark Knight’s ERA stood at 6.08 after a May 24 start at the Washington Nationals. Three outings later, Harvey has shaved that figure to 4.88.

Harvey has allowed only two runs in 20 innings over his last three starts. He next opposes former New York Mets farmhand John Gant (0-1, 5.63 ERA) in Friday’s 7:10 p.m. ET series opener against the Atlanta Braves at Citi Field.

Mets' Lagares to DL after thumb injury flares up

NEW YORK -- The Mets placed center fielder Juan Lagares on the disabled list Thursday.

The move came a day after Lagares' existing thumb injury flared up, and he was scratched from the starting lineup against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Utility player Ty Kelly has been promoted from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Terry Collins said Juan Lagares would miss nearly two months if he opted for surgery to repair the partially torn ligament in his left thumb. So the Mets will give it about 10 days on the DL with rest to see if that does the trick without the need for surgery.

Wilmer Flores is out of the lineup the day after suffering a bruised left wrist when he was hit by a fastball.

NEW YORK -- Wasn’t this supposed to be a stretch ideally suited for the New York Mets to fatten up?

That’s certainly how it appeared as the Mets began a stretch in which seven of nine games are against the lowly Atlanta Braves.

However, the Mets dropped the series opener to Atlanta on Friday at Citi Field.

Now, Steven Matz looks to get the Mets -- and himself -- back on track.

Matz (7-3, 2.71 ERA) opposes right-hander Aaron Blair (0-4, 7.59) on Saturday at 8:15 p.m. ET. Matz enters the start having suffered back-to-back losses for the first time in his career.
