Rick Nash still has 4 goals in 32 playoff games.

For a player with his salary that is unacceptable. This is also an acceptable sample size (IMO) to say that he just isn't getting the job done.

Contemporaries (top 3 forward picks in the drafts on either side of him):

2000:
Heatley: GP-72 / G:16 / A: 47 / P: 63
Gaborik: GP-70 / G:27 / A:24 / P: 51
Torres: GP-68 / G:11 / A:17 / P:28

2001:
Kovalchuk:GP-32 / G: 11 / A: 16 / P: 27
Spezza: GP-56 / G:17 / A: 35 / P: 52
Chistov: GP-7 / G:0 / A:0 / P:0

2002:
Nash: GP-32 / G:4 / A: 12 / P:32
Upshall: GP-26 / G:4 / A:6 / P: 10
Lupul: GP-46 / G:17 / A:10 / P: 27

2003:
Staal: GP:43 / G:19 / A:24 / P:43
Horton: GP: 43 / G:15 / A:21 / P:36
Zherdev: GP: 15 / G:1 / A:2 / P:3

Nash is only significantly better than Chistov and Zherdev among his contemporaries in the playoffs. He is marginally better than Scottie Upshall.

He falls well by the wayside when compared to similar picks like Staal, Spezza, Horton, Lupul, etc.

The guy just isn't that good.

He's scoring now when it matters most. We all know Nash throughout his career has been a streaky player. Richards' is playing some of his best hockey since MSL came here. I'm fine with his performance. Nash, doing everything right defensively, has all post-season and now the goals are coming along.

Rick Nash was the second best Ranger on the ice last night and has been one of the top three every game he's played in. He is playing whatever role he is asked to play, and playing it well.

It's not his fault that AV has no clue how to manage his bench.

I say it again. If the Rangers and their fans don't appreciate him, he is welcome back with open arms. We finally have that center he's always needed. Buy him out - Jackets will be first in line.

Nash - Johansen - Jenner? C'mon, man.

Don't get me wrong, I'd take him on my team too, the issue for him is he is paid to score big goals in big games and he isn't, regardless of if it's the coaches fault or not.

When your $7.8MM forward ain't scoring he'll catch heat.

my point all along. I don't hate Nash by any means but he is not who he's said to be. He's one of those guys who's paid to score goals and big ones on a regular basis. He hasn't done that. I don't give a shit if he happens to be on the ice when a goal is scored or if he's getting back and playing D. He's paid to score goals , not assist , not work the corners and not to play defense. Score goals , that's what he's paid to do.

dont take this the wrong way but it made me giggle when I saw the bold and Im guilty of this

its funny when they are not scoring we look at the cap hit for the complaint, but when they are scoring we look at the actual $$ value paid as Rick is making I think $4M on this year for actual dollars :D again Im not being negative I just chuckled. but in reality it has nothing to do with how much he made last year. this is the stanley cup finals and he is supposed to be an elite player he should be scoring for that alone. but if it was so easy ...

Nash is pretty lucky the Kings didn't score with the extra attacker when he iced the puck with just over a minute left last night. Had plenty of time to skate with it or just a high flip into the Kings end would have done the trick.

They made the comment on the cbc broadcast that both teams were keeping shifts to around 30 to 40 seconds ... as was the case during the olympics

looking at the toi numbers there is one exception

Brad Richards ... average shift 1:01

no other ranger forward came close ... Zuccarello averaged 45 second shifts

/he probably cant hear the bench screaming for a change right?
