The Rangers still have both of their compliance buyouts available for use...

/just sayin'
//Brad Richards has a 6.6 million cap hit through the 2019-2020 season (yikes)

People thought Richards problem was torts last year....maybe torts problem was Richards.

And its starting to look like Nash is trying to earn the lil joey Thornton award for those of you who fondly remember the swamp

That would be even better. I would trade Umberger and Boll for Nash (Rangers like plugs who take terrible penalties it seems), but if they buy him out he will be cheaper. And we can trade those two for someone else. Like to the Isles for their first pick. They need help getting to the cap floor and those two guys are essentially like burning money.

Nash already has a house here, and we finally have that center he was looking for.

For DW:

Nice hearing the garden "faithful" boo their team off the ice and boo Rick "no show" Nash every time he touches the puck.

The high priced players: Nash, Richards, St. Louis were complete no shows...no heart at all should have kept Callahan at least he had some balls....probably should have put this in the "nutcracker" thread

Did they use one on Redden? Or did that one not count since it was "accelerated"?

Wasn't the Redden buyout before the last lockout? Pretty sure they still have two left.

I don't know how he finished the game, but at the 2nd intermission Nash was the only Ranger with a Corsi percentage over 50%

He was the most dangerous Ranger on the ice for a while, the only one really generating anything, but he had no finish. That had a lot to do with the structure of the Pens' system, lots of strong defense on him, but he didn't capitalize on some golden opportunities.

But late in the game, just about the whole team fell off, and Nash in particular. Bad passes and decisions, losing puck races, etc.

Richards hasn't been visible, but Nash is generating a lot of chances. Or at least rushes / half-chances, which is more than most. It's not converting to goals though.

Biggest surprise has been St. Louis. Barely seen him out there. Maybe Yzerman traded him at the perfect time.

The problem with Nash is cumulative not just this game...so far to use a technical term " he aint done shit" in the playoffs and for the player he is supposed to be that cant happen.

Star forwards don't get paid for Corsi's or being dangerous,,,they get paid to score big goals in big games and he has yet to do that.

Rumor in Florida is that St Louis was so pissed that Yzerman didn't select him for the Olympics that he demanded a trade. Can't verify.

It's OK though because AV just said in the post game interview that Nash is feeling the pressure and is trying really hard. kidding aside else can the guy say. lundquist looks & sounds awful though

The things that lead to high Corsi are the same things that lead to goals though, that's the whole point. But that doesn't necessarily show itself over 10 games, or even 26 games. Everyone who's ever played this game before has had a game and/or a series of games where they played well and yet didn't end up with much to show for it on the scoresheet. Goal scoring is erratic, by nature. I still get incredibly pissed at myself when I miss on literally any chance, that's how goal scorers are. But I don't make fundamental changes to what I'm doing on the ice unless I'm not getting chances in the first place, because I understand how these things operate.

I'm not an advanced stats guru by any means, but I don't think Corsi differentiates where on the ice guys are going to generate offense and scoring chances. The thing I see with Nash is everything is to the outside and it's tough to score goals without going hard to the hit (aka dirty areas). The think is he's a big guy and a strong skater, he should be giving defenders a heck of a time and drawing penalties in his desire to get to the net. I'm just not seeing much of that from him.

he now has over 100 career playoff shots and 2 goals.
some might call that unsustainably low.
