Kyrie and Love were out. Lebron took them to 6 GAMES. He had TT, Delly and JR Smith as his best players

KD missed the series. Klay missed ONE QUARTER. Steph still had Cousins, Draymond and Iggy as his best players.

Life is so hard :L

Actually,

Klay missed a game and a half.

He also missed the 4th quarter in game 2 prior to missing game 3. 2 of 3 Oracle losses were marred by Klay injuries.

If no injury to Klay ever took place, this series probably at least goes to 7 and it might have been 4-2 GS. I am thinking GS has a great chance to win game 3 at home when Curry was red hot if Klay also plays. Also thinking they win last night.

That said, no asterisk.

Toronto won and they deserve it. Just like every other team that has benefitted from injuries.

Poutine should win this in a landslide. There are few things better, and a basketball isn't one of them.

Injuries are just a part of the game.
It sucks but that's life.

No asterisk. To be a champion, you must play with who you have. Next man up, it’s a team sport

Obviously injuries played a part in this series but no one will remember it in 20 years.

Nope. Asterisk = huge faggotism
You speak authoritatively on the subject, sir.

I will defer to your obvious expertise in this area.

The question presumes injuries didn't play a role in every basketball season ever.

Were the Dubs severely hobbled by injuries? Yes. Would a Warriors team with no injuries have beaten Toronto? Probably. But unless you want to qualify every title ever, this kind of thing happens every year. Chris Paul injured his leg last year and missed the last two games of the Warriors' series against the Rockets. Have you put an asterisk on the Dubs title?

The San Jose Sharks got ravaged by injuries in the NHL Western Conference Finals and the Boston Bruins got bitten by the injury bug in the Stanley Cup Finals. The St. Louis Blues took advantage and won the Cup.

Might the Super Bowl have gone to the Rams if Gurley had two knees? :noidea:

Injuries always play a major factor in all contact sports; we could dig up injury asterisks on nearly all championship teams.

Let me do the work for Wentz haters:

Should the Eagles' Super Bowl have an asterisk because Carson Wentz got hurt, allowing Nick Foles to take over?

Yeah they deserved it just like the 15 Warriors but lets not pretend Steph still had more around him than Lebron had around him with that shit roster for 5 games. The Warriors had so many luxuries this year it's mind-boggling.

No KD. It sucks but they still have a championship roster.
No Klay for a game. You still have Steph, Cousins, Draymond and Iggy. A very nice contending team.

If most teams lose their best player or top 2 player on their team...that's it.

It sucks what happened to KD and Klay but nobody is feeling sorry for the Warriors they have been on the other side of the injury bug so many times over the years. They had some damn good teams but also some damn good luck.

Congrats to Toronto they were definitely the better team.

Asterisk? No.

That said, a healthy GS easily wins. But injuries are part of the game. GS was ravaged by injuries and playing at 40-60% and Toronto was healthy. That's how sports goes.

Remember the screw job from the refs kept Sacramento from beating the Lakers? And LA went on to win a title. No asterisks there either.

Or the Super Bowl when New England stole signals illegally from the Packers and knew every play they were running. No asterisk there as well.

It's all part of the game.

While I agree with most of this I don't agree that Toronto was the better team without the GS injuries. But yeah in 20 years nobody will consider this title tainted. But most still remember very well the Rockets winning titles only when Jordan was retired. That stuff isn't totally forgotten.

Injury excuses are for pussies.
Not an excuse, simple fact. Another fact is injuries affect almost every championship. No asterisk. But it is simply true that the Ws at full strength would have won.

Also simply true that the Raptors are world champs, forever, and they deserve it. No asterisks.

Don't need an asterisk, but would have been fitting had Cavs benefitted. Oh well.

Well MJ only started winning titles when the Pistons and Lakers fell off the map so I think you could say that for quite a few teams.
