I didn't read the article but from a financial standpoint, it ACTUALLY makes more sense for him to play this year out on the tag, and go where he wants in 2018. Again, if the skins don't get a LTD done this year, his price is only going to go up.

wrong because the transition tag can be applied throwing a monkey wrench into that

Agreed.. but short of him winning a Lombardi here, do you really think we are going to match what ever deal he is offered??

it depends , a lot can happen , what if we go to the superbowl ? what if he gets injured ? what if we go 10-6 and win a playoff game ? what if we go 7-9 ?

if he plays well the price will go up if he falls off then it will go down

if he does what i think he will do then cost wont matter

Short of him tanking I dont see his price coming down. And I get the feeling that if it comes to a third tag, he will simply want out unless as Dean suspects its all about the money. In which case he will gladly take Snyder to the cleaners.

If say the Skins won one playoff game w/ Cousins & barely lost another playoff game then I think that motivation would be there for both sides to extend (unless both sides acted like total jerks). Given the chance to make very good money & make a true SB run the following season things would likely look different especially if someone like the 49ers continues to look awful next season. Time will tell - let's first wait & see how things work out this offseason. Some of you were maintaining that this all had to be resolved basically by this week which I believe to be totally incorrect.

I think it has to be resolved by the end of March, as both the Skins and the Niners will want to have a solid month to asses the draft after any possible trade. And I honestly think if the Skins intend to trade him to the Niners they are going to want to have it done before free agency starts as the whole point in trading him is to NOT carry the $23.95M in cap cost for Cousins. Also figure we would want to be able to realistically go after any one who we deemed as a suitable replacement..... unless the plan is to start McCoy.

Let me first start off by saying, I love Cousins. Would love for him to be a Skin long term....

But I have a questions for all of you...

Has he played well enough that he should be the highest paid player in the NFL? Because you folks realize that's probably what he is asking for right?

I don't care what his passer rating was this year. I know QB is the most crucial position and you have tin anty up to keep the good ones. But he is a .500 QB with 0 playoff wins or appearances and has done nothing to warrant 25 mil+ a year.

He and his agent have us by the balls, they know it and are likely taking a more than fair deal and balling it up and throwing it in the trash. They need to come back down to earth.
