I gotta say thanks for working together with the NHL for the finals scheduling. It is easier on Canadians who are trying to follow the Raptors

Let's take a look at next 4 days:

Tuesday: off for both
Wednesday: Game 7 of the Stanley Cup
Thursday: Game 6 of the NBA finals
Friday: off night.

Now if we can work together on this whole draft thing that would be awesome. NBA is the 20th, NHL Iis 21st and 22nd

I don't watch hockey unless the Red Wings are good, but isn't it always like this?

As a non hockey fan can someone explain NHL playoffs to me? Is it just totally random? How does a historically good regular season team (Lightning) get swept in the first round by an 8 seed?

I don't really follow hockey unless the Kings are good. But one thing I've learned is that a hot goalie can carry a team a long, long way.

It's kind of like a hot pitcher in baseball. Only you get the goalie for every game.

It is unusual for that to happen. With that being said. Jon Copper, Tampa Bay coach, summed it best.

Tampa eased to playoffs with the 2nd most points ever in the in the regular season. While Columbus Scratched and clawed to #8.

But it is unusual playoffs. Hell in December St. Louis was on track to get the 1st pick and now, like Sunday, there one win away from their first cup. Goes to the hot goalie discussion.

Goalie might be the most important position in sports. Hot goalies can carry undeserving teams to cups.

See how the ducks won. Lol

At least one of the Kings Stanley Cups was the result of a hot goalie too.

There's also much more parity in hockey then there is in basketball.

But can't any pro level goalie get hot? Meaning, that's kind of random right? Good team or just good enough to get in the playoffs, the gods decide that Goalie X is going to be hot and that team wins the Cup?

Good enough. Take a look at St. Louis.

It's pretty common for basketball fans not to watch hockey and vice versa.

I watched the Devils for a little when they were good in the 90s, lol.

Being a hockey fan seems like a very frustrating endeavor. There's so much randomness in terms of your team being able to win.
