Oops. Sorry Fraudkees. We know the Mets won't trade with you guys. Better luck next year.

Alex Rodriguez 'loves' Manny Machado, says whoever trades for Jacob deGrom will win World Series

I doubt Degrom gets moved right now. The Mets don't have a GM and they're tied up in contracts for the next couple of years. (Cespedes, Bruce have 2 ore years, Frazier next year, Legares is making 8.5 mil and he never plays, Conforto and Nimmo are under control) If they don't have confidence enough in the current staff to name one GM why allow them to trade your greatest asset? Unless someone gives them a mind blowing deal they're better off allowing the new GM to decide how to go forward.

I somewhat agree. Not having a GM becomes problematic when considering traded the best player in your franchise. But if nothing is looking like it is going to get done, deGrom and/or his agent will be heard from again before the trade deadline. I guess it will depend on how Mets ownership responds to future trade demands.

These talking heads have to say dramatic things to get attention.
The fact that ARod is a meatheaded moron only makes things worse for him.

Let them be heard, he has no leverage at this point with 2 more years of arbitration. Also, after watching him the last 5 years I can't see Degrom being a dick or disruptive. Besides, it's not like this year can get any worse for them. Might also benefit them to have Jake show he can stay healthy an entire season. Last year was his first over 200 innings and it was only 201. I can see them getting a haul in the off season and maybe getting rid of a bad contract along with him.

Wow.

They are in the outhouse after being in the WS just a few years ago. May as well be a lifetime ago.

In the early 90s, 250 innings became the new 300 innings.
Then 220 became the new 250.
Then 200 became the new 220.
Now 180 is threatening to become the new 200.
Maybe they need to change the rules to where a starting pitcher only has to go 4 innings to get credit for the win.

It seems to be the way things are going.

Do you ever reread this and feel embarrassed?
No. Blackfrancis and I have been calling them the Fraudkees since 2005 back on the old CBS message boards.

Wow.

They are in the outhouse after being in the WS just a few years ago. May as well be a lifetime ago.

They lucked out that year. Washington totally underperformed, the Cubs shit the bed in the NLCS, and the original trade they wanted to do at the deadline got voided due to health issues and they used Cespedes as a fall back. He helped carry them but Murphy carried them to the world series and they let him walk. Harvey got hurt again and wasn't the same when he came back and Syndegaard can't stay healthy either. Rosario was once the top prospect in baseball and he's been bad.

This year, every free agent move they made turned out to be a disaster. Bruce is a mess. Frazier after at least being healthy his entire career is on the DL for the 2nd time. The reliever (Forget the name) was hurt most of the season and then awful when he got back. And then there's Vargas, who was awful the 2nd half of last year and the Mets signed him for 2 years. Basically 0 for 4 in free agents.

Kinda.

And you're dead on about how none of the moves this year have worked. But in 2016, it was virtually the same team, just decimated by injuries, and in 17 we had another run of bad signings that didn't pan out, plus more injuries, plus Harvey being a dick-straction.

It's what we do
