Aquaman (2018)

This better be great if it's going to enjoy any kind of success... I don't think it will have a good opening (a really uninspiring superhero + the backlash against DC movies), so IMO they'll rely on reviews and word of mouth.

DC movies have been demoted to “at-home” views for me. That is not a good start. And this is a character I just don’t care about in a universe that has been shoddily built.

Good luck getting good word-of-mouth.

Basically all Marvel, Justice League.. whatever - Superhero movies are at home views for me on TNT/TBS or just China/Thailand movie rips when I'm bored AF and I can't find anything on YouTube or Twitch. That includes Star Wars since Darth Kennedy fucked that up with her feminist/PC/SJW bullshit.

As for the Superhero movies, they've just all been done before. Like... Jesus it's the same fuckin' thing every time. I haven't seen the last two Avengers, Iron Man 3, the new Spiderman, etc. It's just the same crap over and over but one guy shoots webs, another guy shoots plasma, and the third guy has something he throws or.... whatever. And they have to stop, some massive threat that is planning to overtake the World with SOMETHING. I guess that's where I liked Kick Ass 1 (2 was stupid) - it was just a girl wiping out random crime and a crime lord. Not some guy building a blowy up laser thing to... do something?

It's the same boring formula. Only thing that brought ANYTHING new to the genre and I applaud it was Logan. Basically, the demise of a Superhero and the harsh realities of it. It was very well done and the ending didn't leave anything open like stupid ass X-Men 3.

Let me guess with Aquaman... we will start out with him as a kid and some mythos, and then move into him training in the sea with poor CGI aquatic life and doing.. stuff (probably some scenes of him stopping ships dumping toxic waste or illegally fishing)? And then there will be some evil guy that wants to do evil shit by like... sucking up the ocean which will build a super weapon to... do something, and Aquaman will try to stop him and nearly die, but then the hot mermaid chicks who don't look like mermaids will save him, and then Aquaman will realize his true power because he'll remember something his Mom told him when he was a fetus... and then go destroy the super power weapony thing.

If they are going into these with the intention of having multiple movies the villains shouldn't be easily disposable. IMO if you want a better take on some of these the bad guy should win in the first couple movies and the hero finally destroys them in the final part of a trilogy or something. Build up to it and work on the character development more.

I don't know how this film will turn out, but I'd watch a film that was 120 minutes of Jason Mamomo... Mamaom... Mama-o... Khal Drogo fighting a great white shark.

I know Aquaman doesn't fight the fish, but I think that'd make for a cool film.

I'll see it. DC has been a breath of fresh air from all the Marvel movies which are all the same shit over and over again

Part 1. Dramatic attack scene and villians introduce themselves. Origin story is got out of the way or a quick catchup on what the characters have been up to lately.

Part 2. Event occurs that causes butthurt. The heros all start bitching at each other and have to explore their emotions.

Part 3. Another attack scene and final battle which has them put aside their grievances (we're a team now!!!) and kinda of win cause there is still destruction everywhere.

Throw in a bunch of tongue in cheek comedy bits.

And like sheep, the marvel fan boys eat it up and call each one original and groundbreaking.

Ugh... That Aquaman scream. He's supposed to be a badass in this universe, but that scream just removes all credibility.

The trailer looks fine, but Suicide Squad had far better trailers and the movie kind of sucked.
