All right! We now have three to help run this mock draft. Now one of the big question, you folks need to figure out is when this takes place and how long for picks etc.

Good Luck guys!

I vote we wait until after the combine. Maybe in a few weeks around first of March or so?

I say 4-6 hours between picks. That ensures at least 2 picks a day. I am fine with waiting till after the main scouting combine that takes place Feb. 22-25.

4 hours for round 1, 3 hours for rounds 2 and 3. I think that's the furthest we should go. Idk if doing all 7 would be worth it.

Also need to decide if we're just doing the draft and calling it a game, or if we want to turn it into an off-season with trades and whatnot. No free agent signings since that will get out of hand.

I think 4 hours for round 1 is way to much if we cant get everyone here and ready for round 1 we are in trouble. If we post the draft times and people actually check in and see when their pick is we shouldnt have to go more than 2 hours per pick.

In my experience in doing these mixing in trading always leads to fighting and people quitting, i'm not against it but people always seem to bitch about trades.

As for waiting until after the combine, it doesnt matter to me but why couldnt we do one before and after?

Okay, so we'll do 7 rounds. 2 hour clock limit should be fine then. But remember, we're not looking to bang this out in 1-3 days, it's going to take at least a week or two. But that's the point of it, no need to rush through it. I've seen it before and it becomes a mess.

Agreed, when I ran these on cBS there were two things I said over and over again.

1. Be patient
2. Leave a list if you are going to be away

Johnnydollaz that all sounds good to me on the time limits. So now we just need to figure out a date. As I can tell right now the established rules are...

1. Each pick at least for the first round will be 2 hour time limit to make the pick.
2. The draft will run from 8-8 (eastern standard time) every day until the draft is done.
3. Trades are allowed but they must be realistic and cannot include future picks that have no bearing on this draft. Player trades are allowed as well but once again must be realistic. A panel of 3-5 people will have to ok every trade offer to make sure they are not Madden type trades.
4. If you know you are not going to be one possibly when your team picks then a list of possible players in order of preference must be submitted before your pick comes up. If it is not then a player will be drafted from a predetermined list.
5. I think we said that we were going to try to do one of these every month up to the draft so if you figure out you cannot participate as much as you want then open your spot up to another individual that can.

Now the trade thing are we allowing it or not...I would say maybe stay away from player trades and just leave it at draft picks. This keeps it a little simpler but still makes the draft half way realistic.

I am also for having one before the Combine then after and then again in April and then maybe the week before the draft when most everything has gotten sorted out. Maybe that is overkill but I am one that loves mock drafts.

I've never done a mock draft before, but I'd prefer not to have trades.

Edit: Just saw the updated rules. Simplifying the trade system like that is okay with me

Draft pick trades are pretty simple honestly. What I would recommend if some team wants to make a trade would be to look at the draft value charts out there and make trades that fall within those. Now realize some are very outdated since the new CBA came in making trades a little easier but there are some new ones that fit closer to how the Draft operates today.

So people on the west coast could be picking at 5:00am?

I'm cool with pick trades, they seem to be fair most of the time.

I agree I can do these for months and not get tired of them, i'll just pick a different team next time.

We can definitely move it...I was just throwing a time out there for now. We could go 8-8 Mountain time as that would mean 7 a.m. would be the earliest on the West Coast and 10 p.m. at the latest on the East Coast. Does that seem fair? I know that is early on the West Coast but with a 2 hour window for picks that means someone would have until 9 a.m. to make the pick if say they just happen to be the first pick of the day.

The 5am west coast time is not fair to those of us living here. That is why I suggested 10am-10pm est so that would equal 7am-7pm pst.

I am fine with trades as long as they are within 100 points of the dvc.
