We should run a draft, as well as a mock off-season where we can make trades and build a roster for the 2014-2015 season. Would be pretty cool. Then hold a vote to see who would win it all.
Well my recommendation if we were to try and start a whole Mock Off Season. I would say throw out Free Agency. Too many people have no clue on the whole Salary Cap to make it realistic. Some team could get the top 5 players in Free Agency by just throwing out ridiculous contracts that make no sense and are unrealistic to fit under the cap. Plus the whole it would take forever if say teams did get into a bidding war for a player trying to get all that figured out.
If there are going to be trades of players or draft picks I would say there would need to be a trade counsel that decides whether it is realistic or not. Otherwise somebody could trade 4 1st round picks for the next 4 drafts after this one to move up when in reality that would never happen. So again a panel of 5 posters or so that decide whether a trade for players or picks would be actually realistic.
I would also say if there are going to be trades of draft picks they can only be picks from this year's draft in the top 4 rounds say that is as far as we go. So again it is not just imaginary draft picks that don't hurt whoever is drafting this season.
I think we need 3 or 4 people to run it, we need people to be available throughout the day...
Well to be honest if you are selecting for your team you really only need to keep track of the draft and know when your turn is coming up.
Pretty much this. The commissioners of the league will have to keep track of the draft board and the time on the clock and any trades made.
If you're simply just a GM, all you need to do is know when you're up and any trades you want to make.
I would be willing to start it up if 2 members will help me as well.
Well in reality everybody involved on draft day would have to pay attention if we are going to have draft day trades as you would never know when somebody would want to offer up a trade plus then having to get that trade passed by the panel if that is the way we go. Now if trades for the draft have to be done before the day of the draft then yes mostly you would just need one person to keep track and make sure people get their pick in on time.
Well I think it would be impossible to finish the draft in one day. We would need to set up a draft board, most likely 2-3 rounds, anything more would be too much to keep up with. We put a time clock on each pick, so round 1 would have a 4 hour draft clock for the GM to pick. If he doesn't pick, his pick is skipped and can be made at anytime. Round 2 and 3 we can have a 2 hour draft clock. We follow that clock, we could have the game done in a week or two.
Leave time to make trades, no free agent signings. At the end of that, we hold a vote for each division winner. 6 teams make the playoffs, just like in the NFL. Each round is a head-to-head matchup, with the GM explaining why voters should vote for them to move on. That is done all the way through till we crown a SB winner for our make believe season. It's a fairly simple process to follow. Have played in and ran some many of times on other sites.

I agree we couldn't finish it in 1 day. Most likely have to have the draft open from like 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day and like you said give a certain window for those picks. I could probably live with 4 hours.
Not sure about the division winners thing as draft picks are impossible to tell of the quality that they are. Especially this year's draft considering this is the biggest underclassman class they have ever had in the draft. I would also think that draft boards would be tough to judge of who to go off of. I have already seen 1 draft board that has a guy as a top 15 pick and others that have the guy as a 3rd round pick. Just to give you the example the guy I am thinking of is Aaron Donald DT. To me he is a top 15 pick but a guy like Gil Brant doesn't even have him in his top 50 prospects.
Plus throw in it would be hard to argue for the Playoffs the next year for some of the bottom tier teams as the draft can only fill so many holes. Last year's playoff teams would definitely have the advantage so even if say another team in the division improves more through the draft it doesn't show in them actually making the playoffs just because of the quality of team ahead of them.
