Man this would be Big for the 49ers if they come back next year. They both fill BIG holes for this team. RT Pears and MLB Wilhoite are really bad. This would be great news. Insiders said we have a better chance getting AD back. Willis is 50/50. He wants to see how his toe is when he starts back up with football activities.

Both will take 1 year contracts with the 49ers at a low rate because of missing football for a year. This would be great. 49ers will still have 40 mill and If they cut Kap will be in the 50-60 mill range. Plus throw in a top 10 pick. Next year 49ers might be able to rebound. Just have to hire the right staff.

Yeah... that would be pretty cool if Willis heals up and wants back in.... With him and Anthony Davis and a good draft we could be back in it in a hurry.

This was the rage on KNBR this morning. Not sure why Davis is a rumor now. He has been tweeting about a comeback for months. With Willis gotta see how his toe is. Would be an improvement over wilhoite. I believe they would be under their old contracts

Willis is not coming back. He just posted he isn't coming back. He said he will never play another down. Damn it. AD is 99% sure he is coming back. That's still good news.

Not surprised aboout Willis. He was suffering from a chronic toe condition that would not improve. It affected his ability to move on the field. So unless it finally started to respond to rest, I don't see why he would change his mind

Im happy with AD coming back. He will be a nice help on the Oline. Now we don't have to draft a OT with our 1st pick.

Staley
Boone
Kilgore
Tiller
AD

Not a bad oline anymore. Brown is your back up tackle and Martin and Thomas are your back guard and center.

Willis was a rumor but Davis is not. Would love to have Willis back, but Anthony Davis might be more important going into the future.

yes, assuming he can play to his best level?
LOL, if he plays better than Pears that is a plus and that wouldn't be hard to do. I do think he is still going to have to earn his old spot back but it does give the club more options

Baalke will address RT somehow or another, Pears won't be manning it next season. So Davis isn't competing with Pears, he must beat out healthy players.

We can't assume Davis will return "good as new", i doubt he will.

From what I've read Davis will be competing with Brown for the right tackle spot.
Not sure what good as new is supposed to be. Supposedly he has been working out and getting in real good shape. It's not like he had any significant physical injuries like a ripped up knee when he left. But ultimately we will know what's up if and when he shows up for camp

don't get me wrong, if Davis returns and plays well, obviously it is great. Just that to me there were serious reasons - physical and mental - as to why Davis retired in the first place. I'm not getting my hopes up.

Davis had a couple of concussions back to back and from reports might have had lingering effects from those before retiring. Also had some minor injuries but those were not long term issues.

How does Davis call Staley soft but he is the one that quit. Weird stuff. i don't get why he had to open his mouth. 2nd Davis is half the player staley is. No your place Davis.

I agree. Calling out teammates in the media isn't the right thing do especially Staley who is the vet leader on the oline.
