About the only thing that can piss me off today is if the first game tonight runs over 3 hours, which it likely will and our game will be joined in progress. I know it is just the first preseason game and many don't care much for it. Bottom line it is getting to close to the real thing. For you that don't care much for the first preseason game- our likely starting RB this year played the whole first half last year of this game. Then again I thought I saw glimpses of the next Ronnie Lott in Ahmad Dixon. Ok maybe not Lott, but definitely Bernard Pollard. Dixon put up some real good tape that game according to Kiffen. Unfortunately he decided to sleep in a lot the next few weeks. So yea, I can't get caught up in what somebody does, but I'm excited to see these new guys.

I'm thinking defense - Hitchens and Wilson at LB as well as pretty much anyone on the DL and in the secondary...DL - Would like to see some pass rush and see how stout they are at the point of attack. Vanilla Offense probably means a lot of double teaming of the DL on running plays.

Boy, I'm not sure that is happening tonight. That would mean 4 backs and a FB? Plus my guess is 4 TEs this year. I'm thinking he could earn a spot if he's good throughout the offseason, but not tonight. Or the easier way is if DMac is hurt at the beginning of the year or actaully even if DMac is cut if he doesn't impress. Remember, low guaranteed $'s, but a decent size contract. So if DMac doesn't win the job or at least a big part of it there isn't reason to keep him unless the others can't block for shit. Can't run down on STs like the others likely will be able to. I will say I am very intrigued by Johnson. Really want to se Randle and how he looks in all situations and also Dunbar if he has that explosiveness.

I'm excited about seeing Randy Gregory Above all. We really need to be healthy this season. If we have a real pass rush this year the skies the limit for this team if our defense plays well this year.

I get your point. The first preseason game can't get you a roster spot, but it can sure lose you one. Lucky Whitehead tried last night. I was afraid after the fumble he would press too hard and create another, but he settled alright.

Right. It's like that old saying in golf. You can't win the tournament on Thurs, but you can lose it.
On that note, let's hope Lucky holds onto the ball a little better going forward...
