So, Aldon is an absolute fucking idiot.

I would love it if Baalke called up Philly today to find out what it would take to get Brandon Graham. I love having Aldon on the field, but you can't be this fucking stupid. He probably gets 1 (maybe 2) games this time, but next time (and there will be a next time, let's not fool ourselves) he will get at least 4.

In terms of our "big FAs of the future" he is 100% at the bottom of my priority list right now.

Fucking idiot.

Maybe a team with the top pick or 2nd pick will take him for Clowney after the season.

It's a friggn' shame because Aldon is the best player on a team that's been arguably the best roster in football the last 3 years. Clowney's the only guy I'd take for him.

It's just so frustrating. The kid is so talented. If he can stay on the field, he's going to be one of the best pass rushers in the history of the league. But it's just one stupid thing after another. You can chalk one or two of these things up to immaturity or poor judgment, but he's been involved in so many things that this goes way beyond that.

The problem is that we have major needs at CB and SS next year, as well as at WR. Aldon is probably our most important defensive piece. This team isn't nearly as good without him.

I wouldn't trade him for Graham. I wouldn't trade him at all (frankly, I don't think we would get anything close to fair value for what he brings on the field because he's a fucking idiot).

I would look to bring in Graham because he's grossly underused in Philly so we could probably get him for a 4th or 5th round pick (or less) and he could provide a very good pass rush option for when Smith fucks up again and gets suspended really long term.

If Graham really catches on here, then when Smith is a FA, we don't have to worry about him and we roll with Graham/Brooks/Lemonier/Future Draft Pick.

Weed is barely illegal in CA. So long as it doesn't look like it was for sale (and he'd presumably still be in custody if they did) or a significant amount, I'd be somewhat surprised if they even charge him with that.

Obviously whether Weed is legal or not is the issue considering no matter whether it is or not the NFL says it is not. Broncos just got burned with a guy that is living in a State where it is legal yet is suspended 6 games for violating the fact that the NFL deems it illegal.

I agree with what you have posted. Just one question...how long do the 9ers deal with him and turn a blind eye to his problems? I can only speak for myself but I would say he should not be a 9er. Patrick Willis ,Frank Gore...these are 9ers...not a screw-up like him. Great player or not ,IMO ...show him the door. I'm tired of hearing about his problems . He needs some help.

Not tryin to speak for him, but I don't think he meant straight up. I agree with you 100% iMac. I was sooo pissed when I heard this today. how stupid, that's what he is, do you have to be? 7am and you're so trashed you crash into a tree and you have practice in a few hours! Hell, there were 49ers already there working. You're not 14 anymore Aldon. Grow the fuck up and put on your big boy pants.

That's for use, not possession. It's a banned substance. Not saying I agree with it, but that's the reasoning.

I don't disagree, but...but...but.... He is literally the most successful pass rusher in the history of the NFL for the amount of time he has played. It's so tough to even think about moving on from him. He makes our D special. The primary question is whether he can be helped or not. If he can be, then the team should try to help him. If it is clear he is going to keep screwing up - and maybe we're already there - then he either plays out his contract and goes on his way, or we drop/trade him.

Exactly right. It's all about the cheddar, and less about actual public safety. Thing is, cops can actually arrest you even if you're UNDER .08. .08 is just the cut-off line when they HAVE to arrest you. It's all garbage. I fucking hate the lawmakers in this country.

Do you have facts to back up your claims? I'm calling bull shit. And technically, in reference to California Penal Code, the officer don't HAVE to arrest anyone, even if they are above a .08. In fact, the only penal code section that I'm aware of which indicates an officer SHALL make an arrest by law is 273.5 (domestic violence). Now the officer's department policy may...

I'm a social drinker, in average shape, and when I feel like I'm absolutely hammered and would never drive, I've blown an 0.06-0.10, on a calibrated device. Obviously, ones alcohol tolerance is associated with several different factors. But I can absolutely see why someone under an .08 is arrested for DUI.

I was thinking 4 for sure? I've said this before in the past and I'll say it again. As much as I try to memorize the transactions and happenings that go around in the NFL, I am admittedly not as knowledgeable on items that have to do with the legal side of football and suspensions in the NFL. I've been expecting to see at least 4 whenever this gets sorted out. Not that I'm right. I'm just saying where I thought this was headed.

I went with 1 because that's what Dobbs got. I don't know how the lawsuit plays into this either. Will the pending lawsuit impact any punishment for the DUI, or will the DUI impact any punishment down the road for the lawsuit/shooting?

You are okay with him being drunk ,etc. before a practice? I'm not talking about what everyone does on there own time....just this one final bone-headed moment by Aldon. This is still okay with you? I guess most 9er fans will have to stop ragging on other teams for substance abuse then...not directed towards you in any fashion, but this shit is landing on our front door.

Where in his post did he say he was "okay" with Smith's behaviour?

He is now under Goodell's radar as a repeat offender. His fines and/or suspensions will get larger every time. He still has a pending lawsuit.

To clarify my position for everyone (to prevent any potential confusion, not saying you guys didn't follow) I wouldn't do anything to remove him from the roster (trade or cut). I would let him play out his contract, but I would also be actively trying to replace him. Some of you guys may remember how big of a Brandon Graham fan I was in 2010 (I wanted him rather than Iupati or Davis) and in limited opportunities in Philly he's been a bit of a force rushing the passer.

Since Philly doesn't want to play him much, I would look into trading for him and see how he plays with increased snaps when Aldon fucks up again and gets suspended long term. If Graham shows enough to be a 10-15 sack guy (I think he's easily a 10 sack guy) then we let someone else overpay for Aldon's suspensions, focus that money on Crabtree (who is likely making money for his next contract every game he doesn't play right now) and draft another pass rusher. Then we roll with Graham/Brooks/Lemonier/Rookie once Aldon moves on. Sorry, once we move on from Aldon.

If Graham worked out as a start, it would not be difficult to find a PR specialist who would get 10-15 snaps per game in the middle rounds.

It's also probably going to become more important to have quality depth at the edge rusher positions as teams start to do more no huddle-all the time offense trying to run 90 plays per game.

I know. That's why I addressed the lawsuit in the post you quoted. My question is whether the lawsuit affects discipline for this incident, or will this incident affect discipline for the lawsuit in the future.

If it's the former, he may catch more games than usual for a "first time offender" (first time in the sense that he hasn't been suspended before).

If it's the latter, it increases the likelihood of punishment for the lawsuit. As of 7:02 this morning I felt he had a good shot at skating in terms of NFL discipline for the lawsuit and getting no suspension.

Now I believe he will get suspended. We may lose him for 1 game in a few weeks and 4 or 6 games next season with the lawsuit.

Maybe the word 'okay' was incorrect. Defend a wrong all you want and spin it however you would like. I would hope you are not on the same road with a person who is drunk and driving.

The crappy part is that even if the lawsuit and this DUI are dropped he will still get suspended for just bringing the negative attention to the NFL. That's the only part of this new policy I don't like. If nothing comes of it off the field then nothing of it should come on the field. Roger should wait and see what he is charged with, and how the lawsuit plays out before even thinking of a suspension. That of course will not happen though because the NFL is a guilty as charged league now.

I think it would be crazy to write him off right now. Lawrence Taylor never got over his issues (and we're talking passed out in the elevator at the stadium on gameday-type stuff, and probably dozens more stories) and played HOF football. Aldon is still young enough to get it together. If he's toxic to the team then he's gotta go, but he's young enough to learn.

It is wild that he might have been driving to practice in that kind of shape. Who knows what they've been seeing out of him at the facility all this time, maybe he's showing up in bad shape more often, maybe not. Wouldn't be surprised if some players get away with this type of stuff for at least some amount of time...certainly not a way to prolong a career. Makes you think of how they were saying Belicheck was getting fed up with Hernandez, maybe he was showing up looking like shit after all the crazy partying and drugs he was doing, just like this.
