Pretty stupid considering there was two outs. Great hustle by Naylor. Jose is rubbing off on him
I guess I get it as thought he'd easily beat him to bag and why risk a throw? Glad it worked out how it did.

Pretty crazy Clase and Miller are basically the same age too. Clase has been around for awhile

Is the change in Clase as simple as not just going for Ks and become more of a pitcher (one who can throw 100 helps, too, of course)?

That’s not what they teach in little league and a throw to first is extremely routine for all these professionals. I could see if he was right next to the bag but the safe play is always at first with two outs.

For him about a 3% and I would bet most of those errors are not on routine plays.

no disagreement here....though saw it live and at time looked like an easy play at 2nd (Fry has some speed, too, I guess). Great hustle by Naylor. I also think his steps were a little off and he thought he'd get there on his last one but didn't obviously.

very true...as he also said no way this continues at this rate either. Can only hope when he does have a meltdown later it's just one and doesn't linger like has in past for him.

he's been amazing for sure.

Lost in the fact that the twins lost to the Yankees again. Is that there needs to be an investigation into the twins Org.

Not sure what it is. Gambling by the execs? Gambling by Rocco? Extortion? Ransom? A secret homosexual relationship?

But Christian Vazquez started yesterday Vs a righty off of an OFF DAY instead of jeffers. AND he was allowed to bat for himself down 2 in the 8th.

There is something going on here

Yeah fuck this Org.

We already suck Vs the Yanks. So to try to salavage the series we

Bench Lewis(not even DH).

Bench Buxton who struggles vs velo when playing stroman who doesn’t have velo.

Jeffers sitting while shit ass Vazquez plays a 2nd game vs the yanks catching for López who sucks with him at catcher.

We have Castro playing center instead of Buxton now. Farmer in.

Fucking incredible. People, including Vazquez legit need to be killed.

I get the Lewis thing---- he is just back- incredibly valuable to you- playing 3 in a row probably not advisable. Could he DH? maybe- but his injury did happen on the basepaths last time- not in the field.

the obsession with Vazquez is starting to be really weird.

Yeah tbh I dont mind lewis sitting even though he could DH and jog.

But its sitting him and having DH open. Only to sit Jeffers and Buxton too. Just insane.

Vazquez homers tonight so thatll earn him another 2 year deal. Unfortunately he also popped out with 2 on base and lopez allowed 7 runs with him as his catcher again.

There is 2 years of data that shows Lopez sucks with Vazquez. He just threw a gem to Jeffers.

Vazquez goes yard lol

Sadly we still got trucked because.....

2023 Lopez

W/Jeffers: 14 Starts, 90 1/3 innings, 2.89 ERA, .604 OPS allowed
W/Vazquez: 18 starts, 103 2/3, 4.25 ERA, .736 OPS allowed

-He also threw 2 gems in the post season. Guess who started every game of post season? Rhetorical.

2024 Lopez(entering tonight)

W/Jeffers: 6 starts, 36 2/3, 2.95 ERA, 6.44 OPS
W/Vazquez: 6 starts, 30 1/3, 7. 12 ERA, .837 OPS

Those stats with Vazquez were before tonights game where he allowed 7 ER in 4 innings. So its gonna get worse

Rocco has to be shot in his face.

he was never a big K guy--- his cutter is what he throws the vast majority of the time--- and guys just cant square it up. A lot of these closers have k per nine of like 10-12---- he was never guy that--- he was always about a k an inning guy.

I think he had a hard time with the pitch clock- and i think he just had a "bad" year. Now- some guys bad years are like Diaz in New York--- Clase's was having a 3.2 era.

which is obv. a huge rise for him in ERA- he blew a lot of saves last year - the most in the majors- all though eh also had the most saves in the majors.

I think that

1. He is just getting better now that he is in his prime
2. He is healthy
3. He has adjusted to the pitch clock

and like with Gimenez and Kwan- i think that maybe last year the hype got to those 3 guys- and they worked a lot harder in the offseason and had a bad taste in their mouths. There was reporting that all 3 are great guys- hard workers- but that they maybe thought they had it figured out- and got a little humbled last year. I think they did not like how last year went and really worked hard in the offseason.

but main point- Clase has never been a high k per 9 guy---- everyone knows whats coming- its a 100 mph cutter and its dies most of the time.

as a Guardians fan that watches the games- you know- when Clase does blow saves it always seems like a bloop here, or a infield single there--- which is gonna happen--- but its very rare for really good hard contact off of him. He has pitched 270 innings in his career and given up 11 homers.

Minnesota's closer- Duran- K's a lot more guys than Clase- is a very solid closer--- career 2.6 ERA--- firmly in the top of the 2nd tier of closers--- 15 homers in 145 career innings.

Lopez has already given up 13 hr this year. That is a lot for 71 IP. His ERA now stands at 5.45. If he is going to get to about what his career average is (somewhere around 3.70) he has a lot of work to do. Twins staff as a whole has given up a lot of HR's thus far.

I mean he just needs to pitch to Jeffers and hes fine.

Hes just really bad with Vazquez and that wont change anytime soon since its a 1.5 year trend.

Steven Kwan.....looks like last year was the aberration. Anyone think different? lol.

I think if he stays healthy he is likely going to win the batting title. He is at .370 avg. with a .436 obp right now while playing gold glove caliber defense. He might even get to double digit homers this year too.

best leadoff guy in baseball?

right now Witt is leading the AL in avg. at .320.....I think Kwan could hit around .330 for the year if he stays pretty hot.

Even if he is at like .310 with a .390 obp...in todays game with the lower averages and obp- that is still incredibly valuable.
