So which one of you Steeler fans is this? :D

Fucking A Bullseye.

Tomlin says he doesn't live in his fears, but the way he's coached the last decade shows he absolutely lives in his fears. It's the defining trait of his coaching philosophy.

This is definitely true. It's funny though because nobody mentions the fact that the Ravens lost at home to the Raiders in week 2. So, to me, it's not just that one stupid game - They had chances all season and couldn't get it done. Luck changed a bit late in the year (Dallas and Pittsburgh games), but the Bengals are too careless and not very good at situational football. I agree with you on KC today - I don't anticipate them being very interested in winning.
If we squeak out those two games against the Ravens, which we should have won but allowed ourselves to lose because Lamar is Lamar, then we would e talking about the Bengals winning his division and having a #3 seed. Forget the Patriots games, focus solely on the Ravens.

Burrow
64 for 95
820 yards
9 TD's
1 INT

Chase
21 catches
457 yards
5 TD's

That is what those two guys did, and we lost those two games by a total of 4 points.

Bengals win those, division looks like this:

Cincinnati 11-6 #3 seed
Pittsburgh 10-7 #6 seed
Baltimore 10-7 #7 seed
Cleveland 3-14

Woulda, coulda, shoulda. We had a bad year, but we are one bad snap on a FG, and a dumb ass decision by our head coach to go for 2 with no time left on the clock instead of going into overtime. Would we have won in overtime, no idea, but with no chance, we will never know.

I think the reason you DO focus on a game like NE, or maybe even WAS - certain PITT in game 1...is because Lamar IS Lamar...those things happen...just like Burrow/Chase things happen.

Those 2 games between 2 really good teams/offenses can go either way...this year they both went the Raven's way.

But, under no circumstance can you come out week 1, with KC on the road in week 2, and lay an egg AT HOME to Jacoby and NE. Just cannot.

You also cannot allow the Steelers offense to do what it did in game one. You simply cannot. This isn't to offend anyone here, and I doubt it will, but that kind of offensive explosion should have cost Lou his job on the spot. Fourty. Four. Points. At home (again)...to the Steelers. Pitt averaged 22 pts a game. They allowed Pitt to come into their home and put up DOUBLE...

So, yes - I get your angle...but if we are really talking about games that they should/could have won...maybe they should have split against BMore at worse this year...but I'm not really concerned with that...the ones that eat you up are the games you absolutely had no business losing, or giving up what was given up.

Hell - I didn't even mention the Chargers game...in which they had Herbert playing stretches of some really bad ball...and simply pissed that game away.

In a season of failure - losing to the Ravens doesn't really crack the top 5 of my losses for where the Bengals failed.

You missed my point. Every game counts, but if you want to narrow it down to the biggest impact on the season, those are the games. Those two games are a 4 game swing in the division. They mean t he difference between missing the playoffs or being the #3 seed in the AFC.
